β’ House Speaker Bhofal Chambers accuses Deputy Speaker Fonati Koffa of undermining his office, βConflict of Interestβ; But Deputy Speaker Koffa promises to respond on December 26
Speaker Chambers told a local radio that as an evidence of the practice of conflict of interest, Deputy Speaker who serves in one of the branches of government is the lawyer for the CBL, LTA, Bea Mountain and Solway among others.
According him there laws that speak against one individual working for two more branches of the government and that he advised the Deputy Speaker to desist but failed to do so.
The Speaker of the outgoing 54th legislature mentioned that at one point in time he had to complain Deputy Speaker Koffa to President Weah for allegedly undermining his office at the legislature.
Deputy Speaker Fonati Koffa said he will respond to the Speakerβs allegation on Tuesday December 26.
β’ Liberia Revenue Authority Commissioner General Thomas Doe Nah succumbs to death; cause remains unknown
On August 4, 2018, President Weah nominated Thomas Doe Nah to serve as Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority to replace Alfreda Tamba, a former Commissioner General during the tenure of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
After years of services, Mr. Nah took sick and departed Liberia for Medical leave but did not return until his demised.
The LRA post did not state the cause of death or in which country the LRA boss died but it was recently reported that he was seeking treatment in India.
β’ President-elect Joseph Boakai returns to Liberia following long visit to America; tells journalists, his trip included medical check, visit with top US officials
The Unity Party in a release said why he was away, Boakai held meetings with an array of high-profile Officials the United States as part of an effort to forge strong ties with Washington as he prepared to for the Liberian presidency.
The President-Elect Boakai is also expected to receive his certification from the National Elections Commission and subsequent inauguration on January 22.
The Liberian Leader was received by top dignitaries of the Unity Party including volunteers who are engaged in the Monrovia clean-up campaign.
Meanwhile, Mr. Boakai told supporters and journalists at the Roberts International Airport that while in the US he and his wife also did their medical check to get prepare for the task ahead of them.
