🚨🚨 United States Ambassador to Liberia Mark Toner shared an insightful revelation regarding the difficulties encountered by Liberians attempting to visit the United States. He stated that more than half of those entering the US on tourist visas do not return as scheduled. This alarming fact plays a substantial role in the country's elevated visa rejection rate, which currently exceeds 80%.

The ambassador emphasized the significant impact of overstays on visa approval decisions. Toner highlighted that during interviews with Liberians seeking tourist visas, the responsibility lies with them to demonstrate strong connections to Liberia. This task becomes more difficult for young individuals lacking secure jobs or substantial family ties in Liberia.

While engaging in ongoing conversations about the visa process, the US embassy is proactively exploring opportunities to improve the application journey for Liberians. Toner affirmed the embassy's dedication to aiding Liberians throughout the visa application process, mentioning a focus on providing better accommodations, particularly during the rainy season.

🚨🚨 The Tubman Boulevard overpass project is soon to commence as China Rail and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a leading construction firm working under contract from the Chinese government, is gearing up with equipment and personnel. The construction work is scheduled to kick off in February 2025.

In a recent meeting, CRBC representatives thoroughly reviewed logistical arrangements to guarantee a smooth start to the project. The construction of two overpasses is intended to streamline traffic movement and elevate the transportation network in the area.

CRBC expressed worries about the immediate demolition needed to start the project. In reply, Deputy Minister Price D. Tambah reassured the company that demolition along the project route would begin promptly, as the Liberian government has compensated most affected property owners.

Minister Roland Layfette Giddings conveyed appreciation to the People's Republic of China for this important project, emphasizing its support for regional infrastructure enhancement, economic growth, and enhanced connectivity. He assured CRBC of the Ministry's readiness to offer technical assistance throughout the project and reiterated that demolition would start in October.

🚨🚨 Liberia's Auditor General Garswa Jackson Applauds President Boakai's UN Commitment to Strengthen Accountability

MONROVIA- Liberia’s Auditor General, Garswa Jackson, has expressed appreciation for President Joseph Boakai's remarks at the United Nations General Assembly, in which he pledged his government's commitment to implementing the audit recommendations from the General Auditing Commission.

Two weeks ago, President Boakai spoke at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, emphasizing his administration's dedication to acting on the audit reports issued by the GAC.

In response to President Boakai's statement, GAC Jackson reminded Liberians that implementing the commission's reports will strengthen the systems and controls within entities, improve compliance with laws and regulations, and add value to the operations and service delivery of government entities.

It is worth noting that in July 2024, the GAC launched an annual status report to assess the implementation of audit recommendations across various entities, highlighting both high achievers and those with low or no implementation.

Grand Kru-[Sept. 29, 2024] ---A girl believed to be at the age of seven has suffered r**e in Grand Kru County causing the Liberian National Police(LNP) to arrest and are interrogating a 26-Year- old man known as Victor Dormu in Gblebo, Trehn Statutory District.

According to officers of the LNP suspect Dormu committed the horrible act on September 19, 2024 at about 5-6am in Gblebo Community.

Speaking to Newsmen, the LNP narrated that after Victor Dormu s*xually abused the seven-year-old child, she was rushed to a local clinic where medical authorities confirmed that, Patient Harris(not her real name) was r**ed by means of forceful pe*******on.

Medical report in the procession of the Liberia National Police indicates that the minor sustained severe injuries that require advance treatment.

Defendant Victor Dormu, speaking with reporters at the Barclayville Police headquarters admitted to the commission of the crime, but attributed it being under the influence of alcoholic substances.

According to the survival, on Thursday night of September 19, 2024 a boy by the name Victor Dormu was accommodated by her mother to pass the night with them due to the heavy down poll of rain in the evening hours.

"He slept in the same room with me, began to harass me and I started shutting for help, but no one could hear my voice due to the rain and he forcefully had s*x with me, the next morning I reported him to my mother", the victim said in pain.

For her part, the mother of the seven-year-old r**e-victim, told Police investigators that the perpetrator Victor Dormu went to her house and cooked, after eating it was late and it was also raining seriously, so he decided to passed the night and she allowed him to sleep because he Victor Dormu is a relative to her.

"To my surprise, the next morning my daughter complained to me that my Aunty son have her in bed that night, and I rushed her to the Gblebo Clinic for examination, that's how the hospital people confirmed she was abused and r**ed, that how I contacted the police through the community watch forum in the area and they have him apprehended, the Victim mother explained.

However, the Perpetrator is currently being incarcerated at the Barclayville Police station undergoing investigations and will be forwarded to court for prosecutions.

It can be referenced that recently an officer of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency identified Exodus Koffa committed r**e against a 14-year-old girl in Forpoh Dweken, Grand Kru County.
