Citizens of Lukamai Town Celebrate Historic Visit by Superintendent Massaquoi

Voinjama, Lofa County – May 28, 2026 — Citizens of Lukamai Town in Quardu-Gbondi District, Lofa County, warmly welcomed County Superintendent J. Lavelah Massaquoi during what residents described as the first-ever visit by a county superintendent to the town in its history.

The visit formed part of Superintendent Massaquoi’s ongoing decentralization tour across Lofa County. Accompanying the superintendent were County Development Officer Hon. Francis Egu Lanssana, along with the commissioners of Voinjama District and Quardu-Gbondi District.

According to officials, the purpose of the visit was to reach hard-to-access communities across the county and gain firsthand understanding of the challenges affecting local residents.

Speaking during the gathering, Lukamai Town Youth Leader Tarnue J. Kollie outlined several major challenges confronting the community. He highlighted the poor road conditions leading to the town, lack of safe drinking water, absence of a school for children, inadequate healthcare services, and other pressing concerns facing residents.

The statements made by the youth leader were further supported by Chair lady Vargular Jallah and Town Chief Joseph M. Tarnue, who emphasized the urgent need for development interventions in the area.

Residents and elders of Lukamai Town expressed appreciation for the superintendent’s visit, describing it as a historic moment and a sign of hope for future development. Many stated that since the establishment of the town, they had never witnessed a county superintendent visiting their community.

In response, Superintendent Massaquoi acknowledged the numerous challenges facing the citizens and assured residents that the county administration would work to address their concerns. He emphasized that road rehabilitation, education, and healthcare services would remain top priorities.

“I will reach out to the County Health Officer and the County Education Officer to assess the needs, and we will work together to ensure our people are served,” Superintendent Massaquoi stated.

“We transported hundreds of people to Foya just to ensure T5 is victorious,” CDC Voinjama District Coordinator, Francis Woiwor, revealed today during a major press conference held in Voinjama.

The statement comes in response to recent remarks by Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah, who claimed that Lofa County has become a “No-Go Zone” for the CDC.

However, the revelation has now triggered widespread public debate, with many Liberians, particularly Lofians arguing that the CDC has openly admitted to voter trucking; an act the party was heavily accused of doing in 2023 but denied.
