STATEMENT ON LIBERIA’S ELECTION AS A NON-PERMANENT MEMBER OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL

June 3 2025

Today marks a proud moment for our beloved country.

Liberia has secured a seat at the global table as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

I extend heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Liberia, led by President Joseph Boakai, for ensuring that this monumental national aspiration came to a successful conclusion.

My sincere thanks also go to ECOWAS, the African Union (AU), and all local and international stakeholders who supported Liberia from the onset and followed through today with a resounding vote.

When we began this journey, the goal was clear: to claim Liberia’s rightful place on the world stage and advance global peace and security. Now, with this opportunity, we reaffirm our commitment to championing these ideals while advocating tirelessly for Liberia.

I call on all Liberians to use this landmark achievement to work in the collective interest of our common patrimony, Liberia.

God Bless Liberia!

George Manneh Weah, Sr.
FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA

PRESS STATEMENT
SENATOR EDWIN MELVIN SNOWE, JR.
RESPONSE TO THE UNFOUNDED AND MALICIOUS ACCUSATIONS BY THE GOVERNMENT OF LIBERIA
MAY 25, 2025

It is with deep concern and profound disappointment that I respond to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Liberia, which falsely attributes to me inflammatory and irresponsible remarks intended to undermine and destabilize the Government of Liberia.

This statement was issued while I am currently on official assignment in the Kingdom of Sweden as part of a mission of the ECOWAS Parliament. The timing and content of this accusation are not only inappropriate, but also reflective of a disturbing and deliberate attempt to damage my reputation and cast aspersions on my integrity as a statesman, representative of the Liberian people and a responsible member of the opposition.

Let me state, unequivocally and for the record: I CATEGORICALLY REJECT AND CONDEMN THESE ALLEGATIONS AS ENTIRELY BASELESS, MALICIOUS, AND POLITICALLY MOTIVATED. I wish to state, for the record, that at no point have I made any statement that could be interpreted as inciting panic, promoting instability, or threatening the democratic order of our country, neither have I leverage my networks in ECOWAS’ internal institutions or other international organizations to orchestrate destabilization of the Liberian Government.

The irresponsible and reckless statement issued by the Government of Liberia amounts to nothing less than an implicit accusation of treason, one of the gravest charges under our Constitution that I do not take lightly. Such an accusation is not only wholly unfounded and defamatory but also constitutes a serious affront to the principles of democracy, the rule of law, and the constitutional safeguards that protect all citizens of our Republic.

This act by the government further sets a dangerous and unacceptable precedent, one that threatens the very fabric of our democracy and the fundamental rights of every Liberian, particularly those who exercise their legitimate right to speak truth to power. It is increasingly evident that this development forms part of a calculated and malicious smear campaign, designed to discredit, intimidate, and silence me and other critical voices of the opposition in the national discourse.

In view of this regrettable development, I have taken the difficult decision to terminate my participation in the ECOWAS Parliament mission and return home. I have formally communicated this matter to the Honorable Liberian Senate, registering my grave concerns over the implications of such unfounded accusations against my person and calling for a full-scale immediate, independent, and comprehensive investigation into this matter.

I further call upon the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU) and all of Liberia’s bilateral and multilateral partners to closely monitor this development and what appears to be an emerging pattern of political intimidation and persecution.

I remain resolute in my commitment to the values of democracy, good governance, accountability, and the inalienable right of every Liberian to express themselves freely and without fear of retribution.

May God continue to bless the Republic of Liberia.

Yesterday, Our Gallant Women Rose in Defiance—Unshaken by Police Threats!

Today’s powerful WE THE PEOPLE Women’s Meeting showcased the fearless spirit of our brave mothers and sisters. While Boakai’s armed forces, misled by false intelligence, stormed STAND’s HQ to disrupt the current meeting, our women were boldly strategizing elsewhere—preparing to launch the July 17th community mobilization.

Stop wasting taxpayers’ money chasing shadows. We’re mobilizing in broad daylight, openly, boldly & and the Police and NSA are welcome to come watch. Who knows? You just might be inspired to join the people’s cause.

The July 17th Revolution is unstoppable. Not bullets. Not batons. The people will rise; united, fearless, and prepared for martyrdom. .

Boakai’s Armed Police Invade STAND Headquarters — A Baseless Show of Force That Only Strengthens the Spirit of the July Revolution!

Following repeated attempts on my life, and the ongoing suspicious presence of strange vehicles with armed men around STAND Headquarters (almost) daily, including midnight hours, today I arrived at our offices around 1:50pm to witness an alarming and provocative escalation—heavy deployment of police, including a patrol pickup truck loaded with armed men. Upon seeing me, the cowardly patrol unit fled the scene like thieves in the night, leaving behind a contingent of armed police still stationed at STAND. Later on, the patrol pickup retirned to pick up remnants of its blood-thirsty troop it had left behind.

We call on the media to visit the area, speak to the local community, petty traders, and residents who are witnesses to this disgraceful display of despicable state threats and intimidation. This is not law enforcement—it is naked provocation, a calculated attempt to instill fear, harm and crush our voices. But they have failed before, and they will fail again.

We send this unmistakable message to President Boakai, who dreams of ruling like Kim Jong Un: We are not afraid. We will never kneel to this desperate, blood-thirsty regime and its brutal police machinery. Let them come with batons, bullets, or brute force; the July Revolution cannot be stopped. If need be, we will march forward with our bodies broken, but our spirits unbroken—even if it’s our corpses that must be carried through the streets of Monrovia!
History has called us. And we answer—with courage, not compromise.

Boakai’s weak & criminal resolve will not survive the power of a determined people. He can unleash his rogue police and machine guns, but he will never silence our resolve. We were born for this moment. We will not tremble. We will not blink. We will face their weapons with bare chests if we must.

We are peaceful, but we are not cowards. We are ready for their bullets, but we will never surrender to a failed autocrat who only finds courage hiding behind guns and uniforms.

Let Boakai and his tyrannical regime tremble. We do not.

STATEMENT BY H.E. GEORGE MANNEH WEAH ON UNIFICATION DAY

MAY 14, 2024
Monrovia, Liberia

Today, on this May 14, 2025 , I again wished all Liberians a Happy Unification Day and urged us all to always act in the ultimate interest of the nation.

Earlier this morning, I received a missed call from an unknown number, which was followed by a text message from President Joseph Boakai wishing me a happy Unification Day and urging national unity.

I responded to said message in return by also wishing him a happy Unification Day.

I have not spoken to President Boakai since January, 2024.

I iterate that true unification is not based on superficial political gimmicks, but on the rule of law and constitutional order.

I again urge President Boakai to respect the rule of law, respect past and present political leaders, and uphold the sanctity of our hard-fought democratic institutions and processes in order to foster national unification.

May God Bless Liberia

05/05/2025

It’s almost ironic and, some might say, comical that former Senator John Ballout, a man long dismissed by the Liberian populace and relegated to the shadows of political obscurity, has chosen this moment to re-emerge from his self-imposed exile to lay claim to a phrase from the preamble of the Liberian Constitution: “We The People.” This phrase carries profound weight as it symbolizes the collective aspiration and unified declaration of a nation, serving to remind us that it is not merely a catchy slogan for a once-prominent politician who now appears desperate to reclaim relevance in a landscape that has largely moved on. His attempts to cling to what remains of his tarnished legacy seem increasingly futile.

Let’s take a moment to clarify the situation: John Ballout exists as a mere shadow of the political past that has long since passed him by. His claims to the phrase “We The People” are devoid of any legal backing, as he holds no registered trademark on these words. More critically, he lacks the moral credibility necessary to even speak on behalf of the people he once represented. Indeed, his name is met with derision and scorn among the very constituents in his home state of Maryland, highlighting his glaring failure to connect with those he purports to advocate for. An even broader majority of Liberians are grappling with an array of challenges, making it clear that he can no longer act as a viable spokesperson for their interests. Instead, he has become a relic of a bygone political era, fervently striving to reinsert himself into a system that has long since forgotten about him.

We have seen this charade play out before in Liberia's tumultuous political history. An administration—exhausted, stripped of its legitimacy, and increasingly desperate—resurrects failed political figures like Ballout and thrusts them back into the public spotlight. This tactic effectively transforms our political landscape into a chaotic Lion’s Den, testing the limits of a populace that is becoming increasingly infuriated with such maneuvers. However, let us not become distracted by these surface-level distractions. No amount of attempts by wayward politicians like him can withstand the undeniable and modulating force of the people's collective will. History has shown us that they will eventually fall, overrun by the determined march of citizens asserting their right to governance and proclaiming in unison: Enough is enough.

The situation has, quite frankly, become truly pathetic. Once proud to hold the title of senator, Ballout has morphed into a mere puppet—one who dutifully performs for the likes of Joseph Boakai, echoing the directives of a regime that is floundering in its quest for legitimacy. The audacity of suggesting that he could somehow trademark a revolutionary spirit speaks volumes about his profound disconnect from the current sentiments of the population. The protest that has been scheduled for July 17th is a powerful manifestation of the people's voice—one that cannot be silenced by press releases that lack substance or spurious legal threats designed to intimidate dissent. The ground beneath us will tremble, not in chaos, but with the steady, resolute footsteps of a populace that is prepared to reclaim control over their nation from the corrupt hands of individuals like John Ballout.

We refuse to grant any further dignity to ‘Little John’s’ unfounded assertions as he remains trapped in his own futile hustle. Ballout, the sycophant, your scheme has failed. It is high time for you to consider reinventing yourself yet again.
