Theme: Don’t Abandon Your Place
Text: 2 Timothy 4:10
Second Sunday Sermon by Rev. Lee Alexander Wonta
Beloved in Christ, grace and peace to you from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Our theme for today is “Don’t Abandon Your Place.” We take our scriptural foundation from 2 Timothy 4:10, where Paul speaks of Demas, who forsook his place because he loved the world more than the things of God.
My brothers and sisters, this message is a reminder to us all. In Christ, each of us has a place a position, a calling, a responsibility, and a relationship that is precious and purposeful. But today, many believers have forgotten their place in Christ. When we step away from where God has planted us, we expose ourselves to struggles, confusion, and unnecessary hardships.
When a Christian abandons their place, they abandon their covering, their blessing, and sometimes their destiny. It is dangerous to step out of the presence and purpose of God. Because wherever God places you, He also provides for you. When we leave that place, the enemy finds an entry point. This is why some are facing rejection, disappointment, and frustration—not because God has forgotten them, but because they have moved away from their place in Him.
But there is hope. As long as you still have life, you can return. As long as breath remains in your lungs, restoration is possible. God is always ready to welcome His children back to their rightful place. Just like the prodigal son, when you realize your mistake and decide to return, God will embrace you with open arms.
Today, I encourage you: Return to your place in Christ. Your place of prayer. Your place of faithfulness. Your place of holiness. Your place of obedience. Your place of service. Your place of love.
Do not wait until it is too late. Do not allow the comforts of the world to pull you away from the eternal glory prepared for you.
Prayer:
I pray for you today, my brother, my sister. If you make the decision to return and take your rightful place in Christ, may the Almighty God restore you. May He strengthen your steps, renew your spirit, and bless your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
