Unity Party Gbarpolu County Chapter Applauds President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for Revoking Bao Chico Permit: A Victory for the People and the ARREST Agenda
May 15, 2025 | Gbarpolu County
The Unity Party Gbarpolu County Chapter extends profound commendation to His Excellency, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, for the decisive and people-centered action taken to revoke the permit of Bao Chico Concession Company on Thursday, May 15, 2025. This courageous and revolutionary decision reflects not only the President’s unshakable commitment to the ARREST Agenda but also his unwavering fidelity to the cries and aspirations of the Liberian people, particularly the long-neglected communities of Gbarpolu County.
Since its operations began in March 2022, Bao Chico Concession Company has operated in violation of the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) signed in 2021. The people of Gunbeyah Chiefdom and the entire western belt of Gbarpolu County have cried out persistently over poor labor practices, environmental negligence, and corporate arrogance. Those cries have now been answered with leadership rooted in justice, integrity, and political will.
This is not just a policy action. It is a political victory. It is a reaffirmation that power must serve the people, not exploit them. The Unity Party in Gbarpolu County stands proudly with President Boakai for restoring hope to communities silenced and sidelined by corporate dominance.
True Development Under the ARREST Agenda
The Unity Party Gbarpolu County Chapter further celebrates the tangible developmental strides being made under the Boakai-led administration. We hail the President for donating a modern X-Ray machine to the Emirate Hospital in Bopolu City—an intervention that will transform healthcare access and diagnosis in a region long deprived of such basic services.
We are equally inspired by the significant road infrastructure improvement from the Brewerville Store to Bopolu City. What used to be a grueling two-to-three-hour journey has now been cut to just one hour or less, thanks to the leadership of a President who understands that roads are not just physical connections—they are economic corridors and bridges to opportunity.
Additionally, we celebrate the major road development projects taking place across the country:
The ongoing road construction between Kakata and other central corridor towns, further enhancing movement and trade for citizens and farmers.
The reconstruction and paving of major road corridors across the South Eastern region, connecting previously isolated counties such as Grand Kru, River Gee, Sinoe, Maryland, and Grand Gedeh to national trade and transportation networks. These roads will not only stimulate economic activity but also ensure access to schools, hospitals, and government services.
Continued rural feeder road maintenance and rehabilitation efforts have revitalized agricultural communities across B**g, Lofa, Nimba, and other counties.
These infrastructure projects are proof that the ARREST Agenda is not a slogan—it is a roadmap of transformation.
Bridges of Unity, Water of Life
We commend the national government for prioritizing the construction of a bridge connecting Gou-Wolala District in Gbarpolu County to B**g County. This project is not merely a bridge—it is the liberation of an entire district, historically disconnected from national growth. Upon completion, it will open the door to trade, commerce, and political inclusion between the two countries.
Additionally, the pipe-borne water facility constructed in Bopolu City is saving lives, providing thousands of citizens with clean, safe drinking water. This is the meaning of people-first governance.
Legislative Leadership Affirmed
We also take this moment to congratulate Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon on his reaffirmation as Speaker of the House of Representatives by his peers on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. His leadership remains instrumental to the legislative harmony and national transformation we envision under the Unity Party government.
Standing Firm with President Boakai
The Unity Party Gbarpolu County Chapter reiterates its total support to the President and the ARREST Agenda. We remain unshaken in our resolve to uphold the promises made to the people of Gbarpolu County during the 2023 campaign. We will continue to stand with the administration in actions that uphold accountability, reform, service delivery, and trust.
President Boakai’s decision to revoke the Bao Chico permit is more than a revocation—it is a redirection of national values. It sends a message to all concession companies that the days of deception and disregard for the people are over. Liberia now has a government that governs with conscience, courage, and clarity of purpose.
