Ahead of the start of the district tournament in B**g County, the office of electoral district #1 Lawmaker Hon. Prince Koinah has made available several sporting materials to the four administrative districts in his constituency.

Presenting the sporting materials to heads of the districts teams, Mr. James Yekerson Forkpah, Special Administrative Assistant in the offices of Hon.

Koinah said the donation is intended to unify the districts during the conduct of the County’s district tournament which is expected to kick-off today.

Of the materials donated the four administrative received two sets of jerseys, two sets of football socks and one football each.

The four administrative districts in district #1 include: Tokpabele, Boisen, Kpaai and Kokoyah administrative district’s.

Mr. James Yekerson Forkpah, termed the donation as his Boss’ initial contributions to the district’s football and kickball team; pledging his Boss’ commitment to continuously support the districts team at every stages of the tournament.

James then placed the total cost of the materials at a little over Five Hundred Sixty United States Dollars ($US560.00).

Meanwhile, taking hold of the materials the representatives of the separate administrative district teams James KoKo and Okue Nagbe extended commendations to Hon. Prince Koinah; terming his gesture as timely.

They however, pledged to use the materials donated for the purpose intended; with a vowed to clinch the County’s 2024 district tournament.

In a significant move to reduce the high rates of teenage pregnancy in B**g County, the National Coalition of Civil Society Organizations of Liberia has extended its ‘Community-Led Advocacy for Family Planning and Financing in Liberia project to Gbarnga.

The twelve month initiative is being funded by the United Nations.

Speaking at the project Inception workshop with stakeholders in Gbarnga, the Executive Director of the organization, Benjamin Tarnue said they conducted a survey and observed that teenage pregnancy is on the increase in B**g, Bomi, and Grand Bassa Counties.

He stated that as part of addressing the situation, NACCSOL has formulated a twelve month project targeting the three counties.

Mr. Tarnue said the project seeks curtail increment in teenage pregnancy among young females by encouraging the intake of family planning.

He noted that this contraceptive method prevents untimely pregnancy and allows girls choose when and by whom to have a child.

According to him, the twelve months project will be implemented through community engagements and awareness on the consumption of family planning in the hotspot counties.

He lamented that reduction in the rate of teenage pregnancy contributes to economic growth among females.

Responding to calls from citizens of the County about the rehabilitation of the Kokoyah Road, the office of electoral district #1 says it has negotiated with the management of Turkish Mining Company MNG Gold to begin the rehabilitation of major routes across the District.

The rehabilitation work which commenced recently according to the office staffer of district #1 lawmaker is part of the lawmaker’s oversight responsibility that aims to provide free flow of transport for citizens and motorists plying the route.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, the political affairs officer in the offices of district #1 lawmaker Prince Koniah, Franklin Kermue narrated that the process is meant to make the road passable to enable citizens of the district have access to better transportation and transfering their locally produce commodities to the nearby markets.

According to Kermue, his Boss Representive Prince Koniah is currently aware of the numerous challenges the bad road network present and as such, the district lawmaker has begun negotiations with government and other relevant authorities for the rehabilitation of the road during the upcoming dry season.

Kermue also frown at the past leadership of the district for doing little or nothing to addressing the road condition despite district #1 being a major gold deposit in B**g County and also transit point for the exportation of Acelemital iron ore to Grand Bassa County.

A son of Kokoyah Statutory District has lauded Senator Prince Kermue Moye for recommending qualified sons and daughters of B**g county to top positions in the Boakai-Koung Government.

According to Belthan Tano, Senator Moye has been very instrumental in ensuring that citizens of the county are elevated to attract developments to the county.

B**g county has secured about eleven top positions including Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Assistant Minister, and other top government positions in the Unity party government.

In addition to these efforts, Tano continued that senator Moye has contributed immensely to human resource capacity building of youth of the county through local and international scholarships and tuition aids, since his ascendency to the National Legislature.

Moye served as national campign manager for the by then opposition Unity Party during the 2023 general elections in Liberia and he is the current Chairman of the B**g County Legislative Cacus. The B**g County Senator also chairs the committee on Ways, Means and Finance and Budget at the Liberian Senate

Tano is calling on government appointees from B**g county to work in the interest of the state, adding that doing so would put the county in a position to grab more.

As Muslims in Liberia celebrate Ramadan Mubarak, Electoral District Prince Koinah has identified with Muslims in District #1. Mubarak marks the end of a month-long fast and prayer in the Islamic faith.

Representative Koinah on Tuesday April 9, 2024 made available food items, including twenty bags of 25kg rice, two cartons of vita, two bags of onion, and four gallons of agro oil with twenty thousand Liberian dollars.

Making the presentation on behalf of the District , Prince Koinah, Jr. and other team members said the gesture was in recognition of the sacrifices of Muslims in the district to foster trade and seek God’s mercy and protection upon the district.

The team recommitted the district #1 lawmaker working with all communities in the district and Liberia at large.

Receiving the items, the two Muslim communities, Palala in Kpaii and David Dean's town in Kokoyah applauded the lawmaker for recognizing them during such time. They described the gesture as appropriate and prayed that Allah will bless the lawmaker to do more as he usually do that will better the lives of citizen in the district.

With support from USAID, the "Institute for Policy, Evaluation, and Research" (IPER) recently conducted two days intensive training for members of the Citizens Action Committee in B**g County.

The Citizens Action Committee is a group of twenty stakeholders who will help to monitor the collection and management of public schools registration fees in B**g County.

The CAC's work is part of the second component of a USAID funded 'Monitoring and Investigating into Public School Registration Fees' project that is being implemented by IPER.

The two days training, according to James Kollie, the Project Manager, the two days training was intended to empower the CAC members to be implementing this component of the project.

Kollie said the project is being implemented in B**g and Lofa counties.

He urged the CAC members to be objective and ensure that the project activity is implemented.

Also speaking at the training, the Regional Coordinator for the USAID-CSA projects, charged the CACs members to use existing educational policies and laws execute their mandates.

Also remaking, some participants hailed their inclusion in the CAC and applauded IPER for promoting accountability.

They promised to work in line with its thematic areas to promote good accountability in the public schools.

The Citizens Action Committee is comprised of media practitioners, education workers, Civil Society actors, youth organizations, women groups and the community.
