Sen. Bartekwa Announces Senate Health Committee's Assessment Tour of Grand Kru's Health Sector

BARCLAYVILLE, October 4, ( Grand Kru TV )- Grand Kru County's struggling health system is expected to come under national scrutiny early next week when the Senate Committee on Health embarks on a one-day working visit to the county.

Grand Kru County Senator Numene T. H. Bartekwa, who disclosed the visit during an interview with the Voice of Grand Kru on Friday, said the tour is intended to assess firsthand the progress and daunting challenges confronting healthcare delivery in the county.

According to Senator Bartekwa, the visit will begin with a PowerPoint presentation by the Grand Kru County Health Team, providing an overview of the health system, progress made, and key challenges.

Following the presentation, the Senate Statutory Committee on Health, led by its Chairperson Senator Dabah Mabande Varpilah, will tour various health facilities, including the Rally Time Hospital in Grand Cess.

Senator Bartekwa stated that findings from the tour will be presented to the Senate Plenary to push for swift interventions through the national budget, emphasizing that the current annual budgets for the County Health Team and Rally Time Hospital are grossly insufficient to meet the health needs of citizens.

He is therefore calling for a significant increment in the Ministry of Health's budgetary allocation to address the gaps.

The Grand Kru visit forms part of the Committee's nationwide assessment tour. The Committee has already visited River Cess, Grand Bassa, B**g, and Nimba counties, and is set to visit Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, and Grand Kru counties, spending a day in each county.

The Senate Committee on Health is a standing committee of the Liberian Senate in the 55th Legislature that oversees national healthcare policies, medical institutions, and public health legislation.

RETRAP AGRO-INCUBATOR PROGRAM — COHORT 1

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture’s Rural Economic Transformation Project (RETRAP), is pleased to announce that applications are now open for Cohort 1 of the RETRAP Agro-Incubator Program, targeting 50 young agripreneurs.

The program is being implemented by YOCEL Liberia, with financing from the World Bank through RETRAP.

A total of 100 TVET-trained youth from all 15 counties will participate in the program across two cohorts at the Tumutu Agriculture Vocational Training Center (TAVTC) in B**g County.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE

Selected participants will benefit from:

Business incubation and entrepreneurship training

Coaching and mentorship

Technical and business development support

Market linkages

Access to seed funding to grow their businesses

BREAKING News: Police Take Recruitment Applicant to Court Over Alleged Fake Documents

Rivercess Police have forwarded applicant Annie Foko to the Cestos City Magisterial Court after allegedly discovering falsified documents in her Liberia National Police recruitment application.

Police say verification revealed inconsistencies in her documents, while Foko denies knowingly submitting anything false and claims someone else prepared her application.

The matter is now before the court for due process.

Senator Bartekwa Focuses on Development, Not 2029 Politics

BARCLAYVILLE, October 4,2026 (Grand Kru TV)-Grand Kru County Senator and Legislative Caucus Chairperson, Numene T. H. Bartekwa, Sr., says his focus remains on delivering tangible development for his people and not on the 2029 elections.

Speaking on his weekly Legislative Engagement Hour on the Voice of Grand Kru, a program sponsored by his office, Senator Bartekwa said he is squarely executing the mandate given to him by the citizens of Grand Kru through visible infrastructure developments across the county.

"I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ELECTION, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHAT DO WE DO FOR OUR PEOPLE WHILE SERVING THEM," Senator Bartekwa declared.

"Stop asking for 2029. The people of Grand Kru gave me their work. Forget about 2029, when that time comes they will decide," he added.

The Grand Kru lawmaker emphasized that only the citizens of the county will make an informed decision during the upcoming Presidential and Legislative Elections.

"Whether they will feel that I should be retained based on my legislative efforts, through my development initiatives and other interventions I have made in health, education, among other sectors, they will decide. I should not be occupied with elections and not do what I need to do for them," he stated.

Senator Bartekwa reaffirmed his commitment to the forward march of the county's progress and the general well-being of its citizens.

Currently, the Senator has initiated more than twenty-nine infrastructure development projects across Grand Kru, including schools, clinics, nurses' quarters, youth centers, and town halls, many of which have been fully completed in several communities.
