STATEMENT OF THE CONGRESS OF DEMOCRATIC CHANGE REVOLUTIONARY NATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE (CDCRNWL) ON DRUG ABUSE
Monrovia, Liberia – The CDC Revolutionary National Women’s League wishes to express deep concern over the alarming rise in drug abuse, especially among young people across Liberia.
As mothers, wives, sisters, and leaders, we have seen firsthand how harmful substances—particularly kush and other dangerous drugs—are destroying the lives of our children, tearing apart families, and threatening the very fabric of our nation.
We say this loud and clear: NO TO DRUGS. YES TO A DRUG-FREE LIBERIA.
Drug abuse is not only a health crisis—it is a national security and development issue. The spread of drugs contributes to increased violence, school dropouts, unemployment, mental illness, and criminal behavior. It undermines peace, stability, and the country's future.
We call on:
• The Government of Liberia to intensify efforts in fighting drug trafficking, to enforce laws effectively, and to expand rehabilitation and reintegration programs.
• The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) to take strong and uncompromising actions against drug dealers and importers.
• Community leaders, educators, and faith institutions to join hands in drug awareness and prevention campaigns.
• Parents and guardians to remain vigilant, engaged, and supportive of their children.
• Young Liberians to reject drugs and focus on education, skills, and purpose.
As women in politics, we are using our platform not just to advocate, but to act. We will carry this message into every community, from West Point to Ganta, from Buchanan to Zwedru, ensuring that no child is left behind.
Liberia cannot rise if drugs continue to destroy its youth. The time for silence is over. We stand for life, leadership, and a future where our sons and daughters thrive, not perish.
We call on all Liberian women, across all political parties, to unite in this fight. This is our country. This is our cause.
Together, we say: NO TO DRUGS. YES TO LIBERIA.
