A CLARION CALL TO GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND RECOMMENDATION TO THE GOVERNMENT.
Over the past years, state Assets and RESOURCES have been quoted as having been misused and mismanaged by state actors, on this basis, 50.64% of the Liberian population voted out the CDC-led government.
Let me be very quick to remind our PRIVILEGE brothers and sisters who are being called to public service in the UNITY PARTY-LED government, that you are called to serve the best interest of the Liberian people and not yourselves.
It is often said," One who comes with EQUITY must come with CLEAN HANDS." Remember, when you were in opposition you spoke of the ills in our country to name of few: Misuse of government property, misuse of power, and so on.
My attention is drawn to the misuse of GOVERNMENT VEHICLES, that are assigned to officials of government. Remember, these vehicles were assigned to each of you for the purpose of government work and not your PERSONAL use. It has caught my attention that after working hours, government vehicles are parked in unusual areas especially ENTERTAINMENT CENTERS around town. To the best of my knowledge, the servicing, repairing, and fueling of these misused vehicles is at the government's expense and it is the Liberian people's tax that goes towards those services.
RECOMMENDATION:
I would love to recommend to the General Services Agency (GSA) that each of the assigned vehicles should have an assigned government driver who after working hours, takes that official to his/her resident or stopping point at returns the car to the nearby GSA facility and in the morning go to pick up the official for work, taking into account the vehicle mileage pair distance, at the end of every month the misuse of gas slips and the vehicle will be minimized.
Except for government Security institutions, Fire service, and Hospitals all other government vehicles must be parked at most 7:00 pm excluding government approved special operations.
If you know you have your extra activities outside of government work, kindly higher the service of a car rental or use your personal vehicle and not government owned.
Be a responsible citizen for once by putting this into practice, and reduce government wasteful spending.
NOTE: For best practice, we will be going around to observe and take picture of government vehicles that will be park at unusual places as mentioned in our intro.
