Joekai Push for Stronger Partnerships to Advance Human Health and Public Service in Africa
ABIDJAN, CÔTE D’IVOIRE — At the High-Level Meeting in Abidjan, the Director-General of Liberia’s Civil Service Agency (CSA) Dr. Josiah F. Joekai Jr., called for stronger partnerships to strengthen community health programs and public service delivery.
Speaking at the opening of the 3rd High-Level Meeting of the Health and Public Service Network of Africa (HaPSNA) in Abidjan, CSA Boss said Africa stands at a “critical juncture” despite its youthful population, abundant resources, and growing opportunities for innovation.
As such, Realizing this potential requires strong institutions, competent public servants, motivated health professionals, and effective governance systems capable of delivering meaningful results for citizens.
He stressed that the continent can overcome its challenges only through “collaboration, shared learning, and the development of collective solutions tailored to Africa’s unique realities.”
“We remain dedicated to building a strong network of professionals, institutions, and governments working collectively to improve the lives of the people we serve,” Dr. Joekai added. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting excellence in public service administration and health sector leadership.
The two-day meeting, chaired by Dr. Joekai in his capacity as HaPSNA Chairman, focuses on advancing country-led pathways for integrating community health programs into civil service systems. The event convenes delegates from the health and public service sectors of nine African countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Senegal, Ghana, the Central African Republic, Nigeria, and Benin.
