Mayor John Charuk Siafa Celebrates Scholarship Recipients at Chinese Reception
The Mayor of the city of Monrovia John Charuk Siafa delivered an inspiring speech at the Chinese Scholarship Reception Program held in Monrovia, honoring 47 outstanding young Liberians who have been awarded scholarships through the Monrovia–Guizhou International Scholarship Program.
The event, attended by distinguished officials including His Excellency Yin Chengwu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Liberia, highlighted the deepening friendship between Liberia and China and their mutual commitment to education and development.
In his address, Mayor Siafa expressed heartfelt gratitude to the People’s Republic of China for its longstanding support in the realm of education and for fostering people-to-people exchanges that lead to shared prosperity. "Your enduring friendship continues to bear fruit in ways that transform lives and strengthen our shared future," he remarked.
The Mayor specifically acknowledged the significance of the scholarship program as a vital initiative that goes beyond mere diplomacy, emphasizing its impact on the communities and human capital of Liberia.
He praised the Guizhou Province for its partnership with Monrovia, which has enabled such meaningful opportunities for growth and investment in education.
To the scholarship recipients, Mayor Siafa offered words of encouragement, urging them to embrace the cultural experiences awaiting them in China. "You are more than students you are ambassadors of Liberia," he said, highlighting the role they will play in sharing the warmth and resilience of their homeland while gaining invaluable knowledge during their studies.
