A Liberian-owned construction company, Global Group of Companies has announced plans to expand its operations across Liberia’s counties as part of a long-term strategy aimed at strengthening trust, decentralizing services, and deepening its national presence.
Speaking in an interview with journalists over the weekend, George Dorbor, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Group of Companies, stated that the company intends to establish offices in areas where it executes projects and to maintain those offices even after the projects are completed. This approach, Dorbor said, will ensure continuity, accessibility, and sustained engagement with local communities.
Looking ahead, the company is also diversifying into real estate and construction supply businesses to reduce dependence on imported materials.
He further disclosed that land has already been acquired in three strategic locations, with plans underway to develop properties that will support sustainable growth and long-term stability.
“Our long-term goal is to build a credible Liberian brand that operates across counties and, eventually, beyond Liberia. Sustainability, accountability, and community development remain at the heart of our mission,” he stated.
Despite ongoing economic pressures affecting the construction sector, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality service, transparency, and supporting national development.
For his part, Leon Manikpak, Communication and Supply Chain Officer of Global Group of Companies said the institution remains open and responsive to clients, emphasizing readiness to undertake renovation and construction works whenever called upon.
The company acknowledged that rising costs, economic recession, and workforce management challenges continue to impact the industry. However, management stressed that such difficulties are part of business realities and must be met with resilience and professionalism.
“We have faced tough times, especially in dealing with our own people and workers, but these challenges have made us stronger. Every business must face obstacles at some point,” a company official noted.
Track Record and Past Projects
Since 2019, the company has executed several renovation and construction projects nationwide, covering the David Tiaweh Stadium in Grand Cape Mount, the Robert International Airport Runway, the Gbarpolu County Sport Stadium, and both residential and commercial works in various communities. Management explained that project costs are determined by scope and contract terms, with a strong emphasis on fairness and transparency.
The Global Group of Companies is looking forward to bigger contracts coming in 2026, with a focus on building lasting relationships rather than one-off contracts.
Legal Status and Transparency
Introducing the company, the Manikpak emphasized that the institution is legally registered, fully documented, and professionally equipped. The company’s office, located opposite the Ducor Water Company in Duport Road, Paynesville easily accessible to the public.
“We are not a briefcase company. We are legally recognized, transparent, and accountable,” the officer stressed.
He further explained that the company operates formal and traceable banking systems to ensure accountability. All project funds are deposited into official company accounts, and payments to suppliers and workers are properly documented.
“We believe transparency builds trust. That is why we sometimes refuse projects when we feel client expectations may compromise quality,” the officer added.
Community Empowerment and Employment
Describing itself as a long-term institution, the company said its vision goes beyond profit-making. As part of its community empowerment strategy, up to 90 percent of its workforce is hired from local communities where projects are implemented.
“Our strategy is to empower communities by engaging local people, providing training, and creating employment opportunities wherever we operate,” Manikpa said.
Currently, the company maintains a core staff of nine professionals, supported by additional temporary workers depending on the size and location of projects.
