Murder Trial: Defendant Bill Jallah Testifies, Begs Court for Mercy.
In a dramatic courtroom development on Tuesday, Bill Jallah, the defendant standing murder trial, criminal attempt to commit murder, and aggravated assault, took the witness stand to testify on his own behalf before Criminal Assizes “B” at the Temple of Justice.
Following a formal request by his defense counsel, the court granted permission for Jallah to testify as his own first witness. The Presiding Judge approved the motion, officially qualifying the defendant to speak in his defense, with the Clerk confirming ex*****on of the order.
Taking the stand, Jallah, currently detained at Monrovia Central Prison, expressed remorse for the tragic incident, claiming he could not recall all the events but used the moment to issue a heartfelt apology.
“I want to use this time to apologize to the Government of Liberia and to the Court,” Jallah said, visibly emotional. “I am deeply sorry, especially to Princess’s mother, Ma-Mad. I am sorry for taking your daughter’s life from you.”
He further extended his apology to Princess’s young son Eddie, her brother Isaac, and the broader Wesseh and Zoe families. “I know that sorry is not enough… but I am appealing to this Honorable Court for mercy,” he added.
The case now moves into its concluding stage as both legal sides prepare their closing arguments. Public attention remains high as the jury is expected to determine Jallah’s fate in the coming days.
