The Liberia Water Sanitation and Hygiene Begin 5th Joint sector review.
… As means of formulating a framework document to guard the WASH Sector for the next five years.
On April 25, 2023 the Government of Liberia through the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission begin a three days 5th Joint Sector Review for the next five years under the theme “Enhancing Uptake in Sustainable Access to Wash Services across Liberia”.
The opening ceremony of the 5th Joint Sector Review took at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town and brought together Partners,Ministers, Directors, and Stakeholders in WASH Sector in Liberia 🇱🇷.
The day one of the 5th Joint Sector Review was dedicated to technical discussion of the findings and lesson learned during the elaboration of the Sector Performance Report (SPR), including the development of strategic recommendations.
Making the official opening remarks of the 5th Joint Sector Review, The Chief Executive Officer of the WASH Commission, Amb Bobby Whitfield described the 2023 Joint Sector Review as an opportunity for Liberians to have 100 % access to decent sanitation, safe drinking water, and ending open defecation for all Liberians across the Country, which he said can only be achieved when stakeholders in the Sectors work together to find the solution and solve the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene problem across the country.
The WASH Commission Boss further lamented that the 5th Joint Sector Review is an opportunity for Liberians to take up a genuine role to address the issue and champion the cost of the Sector for the successful formulation of a framework document to guard the WASH Sector for the next five years.
"You are a technocrat , you are here to originate those ideas that could be capture in this particular Sector Performance Report (SPR)", Amb Bobby Whitfield added.
Making a short overview of Joint Sector Review the Head of WASH UNICEF Liberia, Jagadishwar Barun said, the review is to Validate the finding from WASH Sector Performance Report and develop recommendations to guide the sector forward for the next five years.
He added that the joint sector review is expected to assess the sector’s ability to galvanize support for the delivery of WASH Services in a coordinated manner among others.
Mr. Barun empathized that the 5th Joint Sector Review can only be achieved with the participation, contribution, and commitment of stakeholders in WASH Sector of the country.
Strategic recommendations will be endorsed by National Government and the rest of the Sector stakeholders at the end of the 5th Joint Sector Review.
