When you start learning a new tech skill, avoid counterproductive habits that will only hinder your growth. The most common pitfall is the flawed belief that you must try to learn anything and everything simultaneously.
This approach leads to seeing individuals who have spent three or more years in a tech field, yet still haven't mastered any single aspect well enough to be proficient. They remain endlessly busy trying to absorb a massive body of knowledge all at once, resulting in a critical lack of practical competence.
Here is the crucial insight nobody tells you:
True proficiency is not about the quantity of topics you've touched, but the quality and depth of your expertise in a core, marketable area.
To genuinely grow and become effective, you must abandon indiscriminate learning. Intentional focus and prioritization are essential. Narrow your scope, achieve deep proficiency in one foundational area, and then build outwards.
