We Cannot Heal While Our People Bleed:
National Foot Soldiers-CDC Reject the July 5 โHealingโ Ceremony and Call for Nationwide Resistance
The National Foot Soldiers-CDC reject in the strongest possible terms the upcoming National Healing, Reconciliation, and Unity Program scheduled for Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
While national reconciliation is a noble concept, this government has turned it into a distraction from growing political persecution, economic hardship, and institutional breakdown.
Liberia Is in Crisis, Not Ceremony;
How can a government speak of healing and unity when:
1. The Executive repeatedly ignores Supreme Court rulings, destroying trust in our judicial independence?
2. People continue to die under suspicious circumstances, with no proper investigations or accountability?
3. Motorcyclists-who provide vital transportation and income-are banned from key roads, further strangling poor commuters?
4. Civil servants remain unpaid for the month of June, while inflation eats away at every meal and every market day?
5. Corrupt officials are suspended and later flee the country, without facing justice?
6. Market women suffer silently or openly, watching food prices double and triple without any government relief?
This is not national healing-it is national deception. The people are not at peace. The people are in pain.
On the Indictment of Hon. J. Fonati Koffa and Others:
We also take this moment to condemn the empty and politically motivated indictment against Hon. J. Fonati Koffa, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and others.
We believe this action:
* Lacks any substantial legal basis;
* Is rooted in political vendetta, not justice;
* Aims to distract us from the governmentโs mounting failures;
* Sets a dangerous precedent of using the law as a tool of intimidation.
Hon. Koffa served with integrity, and targeting him now is not only unjust-it is cowardly. If Liberia is truly on a path toward justice and reconciliation, then the law must be applied evenly and not as a weapon against opposition leaders.
We Will Not Sit Silently
The National Foot Soldiers-CDC will not allow history to be rewritten and the people misled. If this government proceeds with its tone-deaf July 5 ceremony, we will engage in peaceful and principled resistance.
We will not sit idly while our people are:
Starving, Silenced, Politically targeted, and denied the promise of a better future.
A Call to All Conscious Forces;
We hereby call on student-based organizations, especially the Student Unification Party (SUP) and PROSA, to stand with us in defense of our democracy, our economy, and our dignity.
The struggle for a just Liberia must be shared. The time to act is now.
Let it be known: we do not oppose healing; we oppose hypocrisy.
Our Position Remains Firm:
There can be no healing without justice. No unity while corruption is rewarded. No reconciliation while the poor suffer. No democracy while opposition voices are targeted.
