Rev. Alexander B. Collins Issues Stirring Call to Spiritual Renewal at Liberia’s 178th Independence Celebration in Minnesota
Brooklyn Park, MN – July 20, 2025 — In a powerful and heartfelt address marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Day, Rev. Alexander B. Collins, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Liberian Ministers Association – Minnesota (LMA-MN), issued a clarion call for national consecration and spiritual renewal among Liberians both at home and in the diaspora.
Speaking to a diverse gathering of Liberians, community leaders, and supporters during the annual Independence Day celebration, Rev. Collins urged attendees to view the anniversary not only as a time of celebration, but as a defining moment of reflection and rededication.
“Liberia is more than a nation with a unique history — it is a people with a divine calling,” Rev. Collins declared. Drawing from the Bible in Joshua 3:5, he encouraged Liberians to “consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you,” emphasizing that true national progress begins with inward transformation.
He likened the present season to a pivotal moment in biblical history, noting that just as the Israelites were called to prepare themselves for a new journey, so too must Liberia’s people prepare themselves — spiritually and morally — to move forward.
“Liberia cannot walk fully into its promise until we first look inward — humbling ourselves, repenting of past failures, and committing to righteousness, unity, and nation-building under God’s direction,” Rev. Collins said.
Acknowledging Liberia’s troubled past marked by war and division, he spoke of the nation’s resilience as a sign of divine grace and a reason for hope. But he warned that political or economic revival alone would be insufficient without a renewed moral and spiritual foundation.
“It is time to raise a new standard — one that is led by the fear of God, a love for truth, and a passion for justice,” he told the crowd, calling on Liberians everywhere to embrace their responsibility as custodians of the nation’s future.
As he concluded his remarks, Rev. Collins issued a solemn but uplifting charge: “Let us also lift our hearts to heaven and say, ‘Lord, we consecrate ourselves to You. Lead us into a new chapter.’”
His message, rooted in faith and national pride, resonated deeply with many in attendance, setting a reflective tone for the celebration.
“May Liberia rise with purpose. May her sons and daughters walk in integrity. And may the Lord truly do amazing things among us,” he said in closing.
The Liberian community in Minnesota, one of the largest in the United States, continues to play a vital role in cultural preservation, civic engagement, and transnational support for Liberia. Events like this serve as both celebration and call to action for those committed to the nation's enduring promise.
