President Boakai Has Departed Liberia To U.S

The Liberia President-elect, Ambassador Joseph Boakai, has departed for the United States of America. Before his departure, Amb. Boakai appointed his Vice President-elect Jeremiah Koung to oversee all affairs of the Joint Presidential Transition Team, with consultations conducted through telephone calls.

During his stay in the United States, President-elect Boakai is set to engage in consultations with Liberians residing in the U.S, as well as stakeholders in Liberia's political process. This includes expressing gratitude to the Unity Party in America and Canada for their massive and unwavering support in the recently concluded elections.

Furthermore, the President-elect plans to meet with high-profile U.S government officials to advocate for Liberia's position in the fight against corruption, creating a path for investors to contribute to Liberia's development when he assumes office on January 22, 2024. Additionally, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai intends to visit close family members and undertake various engagements while in the United States. Simultaneously, he will seize the opportunity to strengthen familial bonds and undertake diverse engagements, reflecting a holistic approach to leadership.

As he packed up his belongings, he couldn’t help but reflect on the campaign and the reasons behind the party’s defeat.

He carefully removed the photographs and mementos that adorned his desk, memories of the hard work and dedication he had put into his role. The walls, once covered in posters and charts promoting the CDC’s agenda, now stood bare, symbolizing the end of an era.

The Assistant Minister boxed up files and documents that represented years of research and planning, now rendered irrelevant by the new government’s policies. The weight of disappointment settled upon him, as he realized that his expertise and knowledge might no longer be valued in the same way.

As he disconnected his computer and packed away his personal belongings, he couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for him and his colleagues. The loss in the elections meant not only a change in leadership but also a potential shift in priorities and values.
