Year-End Message from MD Sekou A.M. Dukuly
As we bring 2025 to a close, I do so with a profound sense of humility, gratitude, and responsibility. This year tested the resolve of the National Port Authority in fundamental ways. We inherited deep structural challenges that constrained operations, eroded confidence, and limited our ports' ability to serve the Liberian economy fully. Yet in the face of these realities, we chose renewal over resignation, reform over routine, and collective purpose over complacency.
Guided by the ARREST Agenda of the Government of Liberia and anchored in the RESET reform framework, we undertook deliberate and sometimes difficult decisions to restore credibility, efficiency, and national control over our maritime system. The restoration of twenty-four-hour vessel navigation at the Freeport of Monrovia, the strengthening of marine and safety assets, the revival of port operations in Buchanan and Greenville, and the advancement of long-term modernization planning represent more than technical achievements. They reflect a renewed national confidence in what disciplined leadership and shared sacrifice can accomplish.
I extend my deepest appreciation to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for the trust and confidence reposed in me to lead the National Port Authority, and for his continued guidance, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to national renewal. His leadership and policy direction provided the moral authority and strategic clarity necessary to pursue bold reforms in the national interest. I remain profoundly grateful for the opportunity to serve under his stewardship.
This year was also about people. It was about the men and women who reported to duty under pressure, embraced change with professionalism, and carried the weight of reform with quiet courage. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Senior Management Team for their strategic clarity, unity, and steadfast leadership. I equally commend the entire workforce of the National Port Authority across Monrovia, Buchanan, Greenville, and Harper for their resilience, commitment, and sense of national duty. The gains recorded in 2025 are the product of collective effort and institutional solidarity.
We are grateful to our partners, stakeholders, and the Liberian people for their trust and support throughout this period of transition. Their confidence strengthened our resolve and reminded us that the port system is not merely an infrastructure network, but a national lifeline that touches every household and every sector of the economy.
As we look toward 2026, we do so with renewed determination and compassion for the responsibility entrusted to us. The foundations laid this year will be consolidated to deliver improved service, stronger governance, and sustained economic value for our country. Together, we will continue to build a port system that reflects Liberia’s resilience, serves its people with integrity, and stands as a credible gateway to regional and global trade.
May the coming year bring peace, renewed strength, and shared prosperity to all.
