Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, known professionally as Doja Cat, has officially released her highly anticipated album labeled “Planet Her”

Planet Her is the third studio album by the singer, released by Kemosabe and RCA Records on June 25, 2021. The album features guest appearances by the Weeknd, Young Thug, Ariana Grande, JID, and SZA, as well as production from frequent collaborators Yeti Beats and Tizhimself, among others.

Pop music is, by design, kaleidoscopic, and Doja Cat’s third album takes full advantage of its fluidity. Planet Her is ushered in on the euphoric Afropop of “Woman” and moves seamlessly into the reggaetón-kissed “Naked,” the hip-hop-meets-hyperpop of “Payday,” and the whimsical ad-lib trap of “Get Into It (Yuh)”—and that’s just the first four songs. Later, R&B ballads and club-ready anthems also materialize from the ether, encompassing the spectrum of contemporary capital-P Pop and also the multihued sounds that are simply just popular, even if only in their corners of the internet for now.

This is Doja’s strength. She’s long understood how mainstream sensibility interacts with counterculture (or what’s left of it anyway, for better and worse), and she’s nimbly able to translate both. Planet Her checks all the right boxes and accentuates her talent for shape-shifting—she sounds just as comfortable rapping next to Young Thug or JID as she does crooning alongside The Weeknd or Ariana Grande—but it’s so pristine, so in tune with the music of the moment that it almost verges on parody.

Boosie Badazz apparently didn’t learn his lesson when he criticized Dwyane Wade’s transgender child in February 2020. Although he apologized for his transphobic comments during an episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson seven months later, his outrage over Lil Nas X’s MONTERO promo evidently can’t be contained.

On Friday (September 3), Boosie woke up early to tweet, ““NAS X WTF U JUST DONT STOP I THINK HES GOING TO TURN AROUND N SUCK ONE OF HIS BACKGROUND DANCERS DICK ON NATIONAL TV .”

Lil Nas X was quick to take notice and offered a response via Twitter, as well.

“I apologize to mr. boosie,” he wrote. I left a really detailed apology in the link below.”

Much like Lil Nas X’s “apology” for his controversial “Satan Shoes,” once people visited the site they were met with a pre-order link to his forthcoming MONTERO album.
Lil Nas X is ramping up his expert trolling antics as MONTERO inches closer to release. After spoofing Drake’s album cover using 12 pregnant men emojis, he decided to post several photos of a recent pregnancy photo shoot — and yes, he was he expectant father.

On Thursday (September 2), the Grammy Award winner shared a series of photos to his Instagram account that found the openly gay rapper rocking a prosthetic belly, sheer white ensemble and flower headpiece.

“SURPRISE!” he wrote in the caption. “I can’t believe I’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy ‘MONTERO’ is due September 17, 2021.”
MONTERO marks Lil Nas X’s inaugural studio album. Special guests on the project include Doja Cat, Elton John, Megan Thee Stallion, Jack Harlow and Miley Cyrus. The tracklist was met with some controversy, however, after fans noticed the lack of Black male artists.But Kid Cudi stepped up to the plate and offered to collaborate with the 22-year-old, tweeting, ““N-gga ill work w u and frolic in rose gardens w u singin about my pain.” Lil Nas X responded positively and insinuated it was definitely a possibility for the MONTERO deluxe version.
