The Liberia Chess Federation delegation has departed the country for Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to participate in the 46th World Chess Olympiad.
The team, comprising both male and female players along with officials, left on Monday via Roberts International Airport aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
Speaking to reporters before departure, LCF President Gonkartee Dekpah expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to perform well at the prestigious event.
He noted that the players were in stable condition, having received their allowances prior to travel.
Dekpah commended the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, for its support, highlighting that that support led to players receiving financial backing before leaving the country.
