🌍 22 Years of Peace, Action & Commitment 🌍

In partnership with the Kofi Annan Institute for Conflict Transformation at the University of Liberia, we commemorated the 22nd Anniversary of the Accra Comprehensive Peace Accord (ACPA), the historic agreement that ended Liberia’s 14-year civil war and gave our nation a new beginning.

This commemoration was more than remembrance, it was a platform for solutions.
Through expert presentations, panel discussions, and working groups on Disarmament, Demobilization, Rehabilitation & Reintegration (DDRR), participants identified achievements, challenges, and clear policy recommendations that will be submitted to government, civil society, and international partners to strengthen peacebuilding and reconciliation in Liberia.

The gathering united ambassador, ministers, commissioners, civil society, academics, youth, media, and INGOs — all working with one voice: Never Again.

🕊️ Key outcomes:
✅ Shared reflections on peace gains and gaps.
✅ Dialogue on reconciliation and healing.
✅ Drafting of actionable policy recommendations for sustainable peace.

This initiative reminds us that peace is not automatic but rather built every day. As Liberians, we all have a role in safeguarding the hard-won peace and ensuring that justice, reconciliation, and national healing move from words to action.

Together, we recommit to building a peaceful, united, and inclusive Liberia. 🇱🇷

🚨 CHRD at the Forefront of Shaping Africa’s Transitional Justice Future! 🌍✊🏿

📍 Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭 | July 28 & 31, 2025

We’re glad the Campaign for Human Rights and Developments (CHRD), is participating in the West Africa Regional Consultation on Gender, Masculinities, and Transitional Justice — a high-level gathering organized by the Impunity Watch and the African Union Peace and Security Department (AU PAPS).

This powerful consultation brings together top experts, youth, women leaders, and civil society voices across West Africa to:
🔹 Address gender inequalities & militarization
🔹 Promote positive masculinities in post-conflict settings
🔹 Shape the AUTJP Gender & Masculinities Guidance Note
🔹 Develop youth-led policy priorities for transformative justice in Africa

💬 “Young people must not just be consulted — we must co-lead Africa’s justice and peacebuilding agendas. Our lived experiences matter!” – Jonathan Yanzee, CHRD

Together, we are working to ensure that transitional justice in Africa is not just about the past — but about empowering youth, centering women, and building just, peaceful futures.

Follow us as we raise Liberia’s voice and shape policy that transforms lives across the continent! 💪🏽📜🌍

Two Days of Power, Passion & Purpose: CADT 2025!

Over the past two days ( April 24-25, 2025), children from across Liberia gathered for the Children Advocacy and Development Training (CADT)—an inspiring and impactful journey into the world of child rights, protection, leadership, and advocacy!

The training kicked off with powerful opening remarks from Hon. Garmai S. Tokpah, Deputy Minister for Children and Social Protection Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia, who reminded us all that “children’s voices must not only be heard—they must lead!”

Supported by UNICEF Liberia , Save the Children International , Liberia National Children's Representatives Forum , ROCH, and Luminos Fund the training equipped participants with knowledge and skills to protect, advocate, and lead change for the realisation of children in every corner of our society.

Key Highlights:

●Understanding Children’s Rights & Mechanisms with K. Foday Kromah, Executive Director of ROCH and Chairperson of the Child Protection Network, brought clarity and conviction to the importance of systems that protect and empower children.

●Child Justice was passionately explored with Cllr. J. Alben Greaves, Director of the Child Justice Section at the Ministry of Justice - Liberia , who emphasized access to justice as a fundamental right for every Liberian child.

●Preventing and Responding to Child Abuse was masterfully led by Corina Wornee, Global Safeguarding Lead of the Luminos Fund, opening eyes to the real dangers children face—and how they can prevent and respond to abuse.

As organizer, the Campaign for Human Rights and Development delivered transformative sessions on:

●Child Online Safety and Digital Inclusion

●Child-Led Advocacy and Participation

●Effective Leadership and Communication

These sessions empowered children to not only stay safe in digital spaces but also to take charge of their narratives, become confident leaders, and advocate for a better Liberia!

We completed a 2days intensive training on yesterday, the Youth Human Rights Training Programme phase two took place in Montserrado County. This program aims to promote tolerance of diversity, respect for human rights in both digital and offline realms, monitoring and reporting of human rights violations, understanding the fundamentals of human rights, and recognizing the instruments and mechanisms that protect human rights.

The event featured the OHCHR Country Representative speaking on the first day, along with trainers from the Ministry of Justice, Independent National Human Rights Commission, UN Human Rights Liberia, and Campaign for Human Rights and Developments.

Organized by the Campaign for Human Rights and Developments with support from OHCHR through the UN Peacebuilding Fund, this training goes beyond just educating the youth in Montserrado and Lofa counties, which are densely populated areas in Liberia. It serves as an empowerment and realization initiative, as the trained individuals will actively monitor and report human rights violations on both weekly and monthly basis.

Let's come together to champion human rights, both online and offline.
