In his May 5 address, President Zelenskyy stated that he had approved new Security Service of Ukraine operations in Russia. This came after Putin stated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that he saw no point in having a meeting with him. This was in response to the open letter Zelenskyy had written to Putin the day before.

"Unfortunately, the Russian side is choosing war once again – everyone heard today’s response. A weak response. He simply does not want to end the war," Zelenskyy said.

The Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) filed a lawsuit in the North Gauteng High Court to stop South African arms exports to the United States.

SALC argues that exporting weapons to the U.S. violates South Africa's National Conventional Arms Control Act, citing the U.S.'s recent military actions that threaten global peace.

The lawsuit targets the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC), the Minister of Defence, and the President, holding them accountable for human rights obligations.

SALC highlights U.S. actions in Gaza, Iran, and Venezuela as evidence of ongoing international law violations tied to South African-supplied arms.

Congratulations.Liberian Swedish Association

The Liberian Swedish Association has yet to publish a congratulatory message to Madam Selina Bryant for winning the June 2, 2026 election.

She is the first First Lady to win a presidential election in LSA history. Today is June 5, three days after the election but the LSA has not yet made an official statement to the public.

The election results have not yet been accepted by Team Barry and Team Wilfred. For this reason, we do not expect both camps to extend congratulatory messages to her.

However, the Liberian administration should issue a congratulatory message.
