Today, October 14, 2024 at approximately 1:00 pm, there was an intense confusion between the civil servants and the Controller General of the National Council of Elders and Chiefs of the Republic of Liberia, Mr. Matthew G. Smith on Broad Street of Monrovia.
Speaking to Glo Magazine was Morris D. Tahweh, who happened to be a civil servant on the scene. According to him, they haven’t received their salaries for the last seven months.
It was also said that Mr. Smith who allegedly embezzled their money refused to go to the office for proper procedure, instead he sought to “run away”.

Mr. Smith who was present to all the allegations, refused to speak to the press even after he was accused of cutting down two hundred fifty United States Dollars (US$250) plus thirty thousand Liberian Dollars(LD$30,000) to one hundred United States Dollars(US$100) plus five thousand Liberian Dollars (LD$5,000) which was the salary of a civil servant. They held onto his car and refused to let him go.
