DISTRICT 3 MONTSERRADO TECHNICAL & VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (T-VET) PROGRAM HOLDS SECOND PHASE COMMENCEMENT CONVOCATION
District Three Montserrado Technical and Vocational Education and Training (T-VET) Program, in collaboration with the Multee International School System & Polytechnic, successfully held its second commencement convocation at the District 3, Town Hall.
The event marked a significant milestone for 184 talented individuals who graduated from the District 3 Montserrado T-VET Program. The ceremony celebrated the dedication, commitment, and hard work of students who successfully completed training in various vocational disciplines aimed at empowering them with practical skills for self-reliance and national development.
Serving as Guest Speaker, the Hon. Speaker of the 55th House of Representatives, Richard Nagbe Koon, emphasized the importance of vocational and technical education in transforming lives and strengthening communities. He encouraged parents, guardians, and all well-meaning Liberians to take advantage of technical skills training opportunities that enable individuals to make meaningful contributions to society.
During his remarks, Speaker Koon noted that District 3, Montserrado County, is fortunate to have a visionary leader in MrSumo K. Mulbah, whom he described as a “smart and committed leader” at the House of Representatives of Liberia. He urged the citizens of District 3 to continue supporting their lawmaker as he pushes for sustainable development and youth empowerment across the district and the country. The Speaker also praised Representative Mulbah for his foresight in establishing programs that uplift young people and reminded the audience that those who receive help in life should always be willing to extend the same kindness when the opportunity arises.
Speaker Koon further stated that T-VET remains one of the government’s major pillars for youth empowerment and national development. He encouraged his fellow lawmakers to initiate similar programs in their respective districts to provide opportunities for young people across Liberia.
During the program, several dignitaries pledged support toward the District 3 Technical College Building, which is currently under construction through the initiative of Representative Mulbah. Speaker Koon pledged 200,000 Liberian Dollars in building materials toward the project.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Thomas P. Fallah, who was represented by his Chief of Office Staff, pledged 100,000 Liberian Dollars on behalf of his office.
The City Mayor of paynesville, Robert S. Bestman II, also pledged 100,000 Liberian Dollars as an initial contribution and promised to work alongside the lawmaker to ensure the successful completion of the technical college building.
Additionally, the Superintendent of Montserrado County, Whroway Bryant, contributed ten bags of cement and pledged 50,000 Liberian Dollars, reaffirming his commitment to collaborate with the district’s T-VET program through youth and sports initiatives and other partnerships.
Other representatives present included delegates from the office of Hon. Josiah F. Joekai Jr., Director-General of the Civil Service Agency of Liberia, whose office accepted a pledge card to determine its level of support. Mrs. Maria W. Jorkeah representative presented 50 USD during the program as contribution on behalf of Mrs. Joekeah. The office of the Deputy Minister for T-VET at the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Liberia, Laraamand Shenkin Nyonton, was also represented.
Furthermore, District 5 Montserrado County Representative Priscilla A. Cooper was represented by her Administrative Assistant, who pledged 100,000 Liberian Dollars on behalf of Representative Priscilla A. Cooper, to be delivered within two weeks.
The graduating students expressed excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to acquire new vocational skills that will enable them to make meaningful contributions to society. The program, initiated by Representative Mulbah, focuses on equipping young people and community members with practical skills that promote self-employment and economic empowerment.
Graduates completed training in several disciplines, including event decoration, hairdressing, pastry, beauty care, tailoring, catering, soap science and tie-and-dye, computer science, and other basic vocational skills. These practical competencies will undoubtedly open new opportunities for the graduates while contributing to the socio-economic development of Liberia.
At the conclusion of the program, Representative Sumo K. Mulbah reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting initiatives that empower the next generation and improve the living standards of his constituents. He encouraged the graduates to utilize the skills they have acquired to make a meaningful impact in their communities and in the lives of others.
The initiative stands as tangible action rather than mere criticism, reflecting a strong commitment to youth empowerment and community development.
