POWER STRUGGLE ERUPTS AT SINOE COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING

A tense confrontation reportedly unfolded at the Sinoe County Administrative Building on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, involving the County Attorney, the Labor Commissioner, and County Superintendent Alexander Nah Sleweon.

According to eyewitness accounts, the dispute began after the County Attorney allegedly ordered the arrest of a labor officer who was conducting a labor regulation exercise at a local business.

The Labor Commissioner reportedly intervened and later informed the County Superintendent, who attempted to address the situation.

The County Attorney subsequently returned to the Administrative Building with Liberia National Police (LNP) officers, reportedly seeking the arrest of the Labor Commissioner for alleged gross insubordination.
The situation reportedly escalated when Superintendent Sleweon intervened and prevented the Labor Commissioner from being taken to the police station.

There are also unconfirmed reports of a physical confrontation involving the County Attorney and the Superintendent.

However, in a Thursday interview with Mohammed Fofee Konneh of Voice of Sinoe Community Radio, the Superintendent’s Chief of Staff, Johnson, confirmed that an incident occurred but denied reports of a physical fight involving the County Attorney’s driver.

The County Attorney also confirmed the confrontation at the Administrative Building but denied fighting with the Superintendent.

Video footage of the incident is reportedly available, and efforts are ongoing to obtain and verify the recording.

Youth and Sports Minister Rejects Partisan Framing of Lonestar Support, Says “This Cannot Be CDC vs UP”

MONROVIA - The Minister of Youth and Sports has publicly disagreed with Luther Tarkpeh, Chairman of the National Mobilization Committee for the LFA and Lonestar, over comments she says risk politicizing backing for the national team.

In a statement, the minister said she does not support Tarkpeh’s post and intends to speak with him directly, but felt it was necessary to address the issue publicly first.

She stressed that the role of the Mobilization Chair should be to connect government, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and citizens who support the Lonestar, rather than deepen divisions.

“This cannot be another CDC vs UP moment,” the minister said, urging that support for the national team remain non-partisan.

12-Count Vote of No-Confidence Petition Rocks Sinoe Multilateral High School

Greenville, Sinoe County, September 28, 2026: Tension is mounting at Sinoe Multilateral High School following a 12-count petition of Vote of no confidence filed by academic teachers and TVET trainers against the school’s administration.
The petition targets Principal Peter N. Lawrence Jr., Vice Principal for Administration Frank D. Greenfield, Business Manager Cassandra Wonneka, and Registrar Cecelia Koffa.

Teachers accuse the administration of poor management, lack of accountability, alleged financial mismanagement, failure to hold regular staff meetings, and recommending what they describe as unnecessary transfers of teaching staff.
The petition is also calling on the Ministry of Education to conduct a financial audit of the institution and other administrative shortfalls.

Amid the ongoing protest, two lead petitioners, Charles C. Tarpeh and Harrison Doe, have reportedly been transferred by the Sinoe County Education Office to Draoh Central High Dugbah River District and J. Milton Teajay High School in Tarjuowon, respectively.

Sources say some instructors have slowed down or suspended teaching activities while awaiting action from the Ministry of Education.

Team Lion Begins Distribution of School Materials in Electoral District #3, Sinoe County

Friends of Hon. Elijah B. Teahjay, popularly known as Team Lion, have launched an initiative to distribute school materials to students across Electoral District #3 in Sinoe County.

The initiative has begun with the distribution of copybooks, school bags, pens, and pencils, starting in Lower Sanquin Statutory District, Togbavilke City, and all five schools in Geetroh.

The initiative comes following the recent reopening of Schools in order to buttress the efforts of the ordinary parents to securing a brighter future for the School going kids.

Team Lion says the distribution will soon extend to other communities within Electoral District #3.

Office of Hon Noah begins distribution of copy books to school going kids in Sinoe ED #3, Sinoe County.

The Office of Hon. Noah Alex, Representative, Sinoe ED #3 has begun the distributions of copy books to school going kids in various parts of Sinoe ED #3. The exercise which is being carryout through the office of our District coordinator Mr. R. Reagan Kambleh is intended to supply school materials to school going kids in all parts of Sinoe Electoral District Number Three.

So far, the exercise has touched parts of Juarzon, Tarjuowon, Warcaba etc. Other statutory and school districts to follow next.
This is Hon. Noah's own way of welcoming students back to school and to also encourage them to take their education seriously.

The exercise is a routine annual initiative which Hon. Noah is committed to. Empowering school good kids is an essential initiative which lessens the burden on already struggling parents.

We want to use this medium to welcome all school going kids in Sinoe ED #3 back to school and we wish them success as they go through the long year of studies.

Gompa Court Summons Ex-Mayor Suah Over Contempt Allegations After Chief Justice Impeachment Comments

GOMPA, NIMBA COUNTY - The Gompa Magisterial Court has summoned former Gompa City Mayor Amos N.G. Suah to appear and explain why he should not face jail time, fines, or other penalties for alleged contempt of court.

According to the Gompa Communications Network, the summons stems from remarks Suah made during a recent appearance on Day Break Gompa on Voice of Gompa. The court alleges his statements were intended to encourage the public to resist judicial authority and could bring the justice system into disrepute.

The dispute traces back to the demolition of properties in Ganta. Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay stated the demolitions were carried out under a Ganta Magisterial Court order enforced by the Supreme Court. Gbeisay also claimed the land belongs to the Turay family and accused Suah of illegally occupying and selling parts of it, as well as selling government properties during his tenure as mayor.

In response, Suah denied the allegations, questioned the Chief Justice’s understanding of land issues in Nimba County, and publicly called for Gbeisay’s impeachment.

Suah has been ordered to appear in court with legal counsel on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The court warned that failure to appear could result in his arrest and further legal action.
