Liberia Movie Union signed an MOU with Sierra Leone film industry.
The MOU signed Friday March 28, 2026 at the Headquarters of the Liberia Movie Union is aimed at creating a space to have filmmakers of both countries enjoy unhindered access to the neighboring nations where actors will be free to shoot film.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Papa Edwin Shaw, Communication Director and Cinematographer and Technical Guild, Sierra Leone Film Guild and Labor Union recounted the existing relationship between both countries citing that the two countries share in common cultural, artistic and economic values. According to him, the MOU is not just a mere document but a testament to the hard work and commitment that both countries have shown over the years to see each other grow through entertainment. He however urged the signees to use the tool and showcase the real identity of both countries through arts and culture.
For his part the President of the Liberia Movie Union HE Abdul Karim Sheriff in an excited speech stated that he had long waited for such moments when both countries would create an atmosphere of mutual interest and shared values aimed at enhancing cooperation through the promotion of arts and culture. He recalled hosting Sierra Leone filmmakers for six months in Liberia when they had come to shoot a film. President Sheriff who praised his Sierra Leone counterparts appreciated the team for always opening arms to Liberians.
