The Association of Liberian Students in India has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic passing of one of its members Sam Poar Juday’ demanding immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation into the death of the Liberian international student.
Juday age 29, student of Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Kalinga University in Chhattisgarh Raipur and Chairperson of Chhattisgarh Liberian Students Association Committee on Donor Fund is said to have been brutally assaulted and thrown down from the third-floor of a building by a group of South Sudanese male’s students from the same University for cracking high-joke with a female student.
A press statement issued Tuesday December 23, 2025 by the Association of Liberian Students in India sub-Chapter in NayaRaipur Chhattisgarh State, ‘’Chhattisgarh Liberian Student Association (CLISA)’’ call for swift intervention from the Liberian government and prosecution of the perpetrators in line with international protocols.
The statement under the signatures of CLISA President James Heah Wheeeder disclosed that at least two persons have been identified by the Indian authorities through available information as suspects or persons of interest in connection with the incident adding that other suspects remind on the run.
Those identified and declared persons of interest include Miss Faith Mogha, a Malawian national and MBA student at Kalinga University, and Noi Kondid, a South Sudanese.
According to the CLISA President, the two individuals’ names are mentioned strictly in the context of ongoing investigations, with full respect for due process and the rule of law noting that CLISA firmly condemns violence in all its forms.
No misunderstanding or conflict can ever justify the loss of a human life. Universities are spaces meant for learning, respect, and peaceful coexistence, and disputes must always be resolved through proper institutional and legal channels, the statement emphasized.
The Chhattisgarh Liberian Student Association President James Heah Wheeder however appeal to all Liberian students in Raipur and surrounding areas to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding as the CLISA leadership and the Association of Liberian Students in India work with the Indian authorities and Liberian government in ensuring justice.
This situation has been formally reported and is now before the Indian local authorities, the police, the Kalinga University administration, the Government of Liberia, and the family of the deceased. We trust that the appropriate institutions will act responsibly and transparently, CLISA President Wheeder pointed out.
Sam was a friendly and cheerful person who related easily with people from different backgrounds. He was known for his humility, openness, and ability to bring people together. His presence on campus was felt by many, and his absence has created a deep emotional gap among fellow students and friends, the statement added.
CLSA sincerely appreciates the role played by Kings FM News, especially Director Mr. Sherman Dioh, along with friends and close relatives of Sam, for helping to share information responsibly and avoid misinformation during this difficult time, the press statement pointed out.
On Monday December 22 a group of South Sudanese (males) who believed to be students of the Kalinga University attacked, assaulted and thrown down Juday from a tall building after a female student Faith Mogha, a national of Malawi and student of MBA at the same University (Kalinga University) presumed lover to one of the South Sudanese students accused him (Sam Poar Juday) of touching her in a manner she found uncomfortable.
According to the Chhattisgarh Liberian Students Association what began as a disagreement reportedly linked to his (juday) joking manner unfortunately escalated stating that instead of the matter being handled through dialogue or reported to the university authorities, Sam was confronted by a group of individuals at which time he fell from the third floor to the ground floor, sustaining fatal injuries that led to his death.
The CLISA further reiterated its calls for the Kalinga University, local authorities, and the Government of India to ensure a fair, thorough, and transparent investigation adding that safety and welfare of international students must be protected, and concrete steps should be taken to prevent reoccurrence of such tragic incidents.
Chhattisgarh Liberian students Association at the same time extends deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased ‘’Sam Poar Juday.
