Women in Media Development (WIMDev) joins the global community in commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day today, reaffirming its commitment to breaking the silence, ending period stigma, and empowering women and girls through access to information and resources.

Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 28, highlights the critical role menstrual health plays in enabling women and girls to live with dignity and equality. Yet, millions continue to face barriers to managing menstruation safely and confidently due to poverty, inadequate facilities, and societal taboos.

As women in media, we recognize the power of storytelling and advocacy in changing the narrative around menstrual health. This day reminds us that menstruation is not just a health issueβ€”it’s a human rights and gender equality issue. We must use our platforms to amplify voices, challenge stigma, and push for policies that ensure menstrual products and education are accessible to all.

Happy Menstrual hygiene Day.

Celebrating a Remarkable Leader – Happy Birthday, Mrs. Siatta Scott Johnson!

Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of an extraordinary woman β€” Mrs. Siatta Scott Johnson, the Executive Director of Women in Media Development (WIMDev). A fearless leader, passionate advocate, and trailblazer in media and women's empowerment, Mrs. Johnson continues to inspire many through her unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and inclusive storytelling.

Through her vision and leadership, WIMDev has become a driving force for change β€” amplifying the voices of women, challenging stereotypes, and creating platforms for the next generation of women in media. Her dedication to mentoring young women, promoting SRHR, and advancing gender equity in all spheres of life has left a powerful mark not just in Liberia but across the region.

As we honor her today, we are reminded of the power of one voice to make a difference β€” and that voice belongs to a woman who dares to lead, to uplift, and to empower.

Happy Birthday, Mrs. Johnson! May your new year be filled with good health, joy, and even greater achievements. The media world is better because of you.
