It is a continuing collaboration!

On September 9, the U.S. Special Forces concluded a six-week training with 80 Liberian soldiers at the Armed Forces Training Center in Careysburg, Liberia — the first time since the Liberian civil war ended in 2003.

The training was in preparation for the Armed Forces of Liberia’s deployment to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

Attending the closing ceremony of the training were representatives from the Liberian government, the AFL’s Chief of Staff Maj. General Prince Johnson III, and our Defense Attaché Trish Basile.

Brussels Airlines has canceled all flights to Liberia due to the dangerously unsafe conditions at the airport.

STATEMENT FROM SN BRUSSELS:

"Before Brussels Airlines operates flights to any destination, certain technical and operational prerequisites have to be fulfilled.

At present, the airport of Monrovia is suffering from certain deficiencies that unfortunately do not allow us to dispatch our aircraft and have it perform an approach and landing in accordance with our operating procedures.

It is of the utmost importance that we operate each and every flight in a safe, secure and compliant manner.

Therefore we urge the airport of Monrovia to comply with the regulations implied by ICAO as soon as possible.

In the meantime Brussels Airlines sees itself forced to cancel its flights between Brussels and Monrovia. All passengers impacted by these cancellations will be contacted by Brussels Airlines."

Let me begin by stressing that, as President of the Republic of Liberia, I have a constitutional responsibility to all citizens, regardless of their political, ethnic, or social persuasions.

I have therefore endeavored throughout my tenure in office, to ensure that stakeholders such as yourself have the requisite access that will afford the opportunity to raise views, positions, and concerns that you may have on various issues of national interest with me and officials of my administration.

So when a communication supposedly meant for my attention appears first on the front pages of newspapers and on social media, it is obvious that the intent is to achieve a political objective; an objective that has eluded you at the ballot box. But I am glad that you have finally found your voice.

There is no doubt that the expressed action by the Government of the United States to impose sanctions on three officials of the government is a matter of grave concern that carries a lot of weight; not just because of the strong historical bonds that subsist between the two countries and the fact that they are our traditional ally and foremost international partner, but because the fight against corruption is a key priority of my administration, for which we have taken manifold steps to eradicate.

The bilateral relationship that Liberia and the United States share continues to grow from strength to strength. As a leader, I took immediate action when the United States recently accused officials of the Liberian Government of impropriety and graft, and I informed the Nation of further pending actions.

I am glad that the United States and other international partners also recognize the strides that Liberia is making toward consolidating democracy and good governance. In recent years, for instance, we have instituted more measures to fight corruption than was ever done when you ser

President Weah Departs to Attend 77th Session of UN General Assembly

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, along with a government delegation, departed Friday, September 16, 2022 for the United States of America to attend the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The United Nations General Assembly is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations (UN), serving as the main deliberative, policymaking, and representative organ of the world body.

The President will be joining other world leaders who are expected to address the august body on multi-dimensional global issues such as security, peace, economy as well as many other conditions confronting their respective countries.

Just as he did in his previous speeches, President Weah is expected to highlight transformative development drives his administration has embarked upon, including issues of governance, peace, health, economy as well as peace and reconciliation.

This is President Weah’s 5th appearance at the UNGA since assuming the Presidency in 2018, of which two were virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the President is away, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Cllr. Frank Musa Dean, will act as Chair of the Cabinet in consultation with the Vice President via mobile phone contact with the President.

Montserrado County Senatorial aspirant Victoria Koiquah commended the Government of United States of America for sanctioning three CDC'S Government Official for corruption.

Madam Koiquah indicated that it is good step of USA to Sanctioned the three official who were part of many corrupt individuals in the Liberian Society and Government.

Victoria Koiquah, who is the Vice Chair for International and Political affairs at the Alternative National Congress noted that this will serve as deterrent to other corrupt Government Officials, who means nothing to the Citizenry.

She further maintained there are several CDC'S Government Officials who allegedly corrupting Liberian people resources.

ANC's Montserrado County Senatorial aspirant encouraged USA to further sanction other Government Officials who are doing what former Minister of State Nathaniel McGill and others were involved.

Madam Koiquah believed that the Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee should be included on the sanction list from US, adding that Mayor Koijee is one of the fastest new money men of the time.

I think the US government took the right stance and we look forward to other people too, because you have other people here who are stealing the money. Let's look at Jefferson Koijee.
