HUMAN INTEREST STORY: NATIONAL HERO IN NEED OF SUPPORT

Good afternoon, Liberia.

Today on our human-interest segment, we bring you a story that will touch your heart.

He is a national hero, but behind the jersey is a story of struggle.

Francis Fallah — the Senior Goalkeeper of the Liberia National Amputee Football Team. A man who has raised the flag of Liberia high, who has stood in goal with one arm, defending the nation with courage and pride.

But off the pitch, Francis is fighting another battle — the battle to survive.

Despite serving his country, Francis is running a small business — a little shop — from his small savings, trying to make ends meet. No big support, no sponsorship, just his own determination.

As a journalist, I visited his shop, and I felt hurt. Seeing a national figure, a handicap who has made Liberia proud, struggling to boost his little business — it broke me.

This man needs us.

He needs humanitarians, stakeholders, government officials, the Ministry of Gender, and every well-meaning Liberian.

He served Liberia. Now Liberia needs to serve him.

A man identified as Morris King has reportedly lost his life after a tragic accident last night at about 8:00 PM.

According to reports, Morris abruptly crashed into a parked truck along the Gbarnga-Monrovia Highway in Totota, B**g County.

The incident has left residents in shock.

BOAKAI VOWS ‘RULE OF LAW’ IN DRUG FIGHT, SAYS TAYLOR CASE BELONGS TO COURTS
President addresses the nation amid concerns over illicit drugs and the former VP’s arrest.

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. on Wednesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enforce the law “without fear or favor” as part of a coordinated campaign against illicit drug trafficking and organized crime.

In a special address to the nation, Boakai said the drug crisis is a national security and moral threat that is “destroying young lives, weakening families, and threatening our country’s future.”

He said progress under the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development depends on one foundation: the rule of law.

“Our security institutions have been directed to act professionally, independently, and without fear or favor,” the President said. “This campaign is deliberate, coordinated, and unrelenting. It is not directed at any individual, party, or political movement. It is directed at conduct that threatens the safety and future of Liberia.”

Boakai also addressed the recent arrest and detention of former Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, which has drawn national and international attention.

“Former Vice President Taylor is being treated in full compliance with the Constitution and laws of Liberia,” he stated. “She is presumed innocent, has access to legal counsel, and is entitled to due process, which will be upheld. It is not the President's role to determine guilt or innocence. That responsibility belongs to our independent justice system.”

The President added that his administration “will neither persecute nor shield anyone because of political affiliation, office, status, or influence,” and that the law must apply equally to all citizens.

Boakai commended the Joint Security for their professionalism and called on Liberians to reject misinformation, support prevention efforts, and allow due process to proceed.

“As your President, I assure you that this Government remains committed to justice, fairness, accountability, and peace,” he concluded. “We will build a Liberia where peace is preserved, justice is impartial, and accountability applies equally to all.”

Former District #10 Representative, Honorable Yekeh Kolubah, has announced plans to travel out of the country following the completion of his county tour.

In a Facebook post, the lawmaker said that after concluding his tour of the western region next week, he will leave Liberia and return in the second week of October to attend to his court case.

Hon. Kolubah added, quote: ''Watch the process and see. Ball bounce, rule change."
