ArcelorMittal is celebrating “record iron ore production from Liberia” and a big jump in its 2025 profit but how much of that is actually benefiting Liberians?

The company has never revealed how much profit it makes in Liberia or what dividends our government receives from its 15% stake, which mysteriously dropped from 30%.

Senator Twayen says this lack of transparency may have cost the Liberian people over USD 1.4 billion in lost dividends.

Twenty years after groups like Global Witness warned that ArcelorMittal’s deal was unfair and could turn it into a “state within a state,” those fears seem real today.

The company has only just agreed to pay $2.5 million a year for using the Buchanan Port, but what about the last 20 years of free access?

Liberians deserve answers, transparency, and fair value for our country’s natural wealth.

According to credible reports obtained by Africa Intelligence, United States President Donald J. Trump is poised to meet five African Heads of State in Washington D.C. from July 9 to 11.

According to multiple sources privy to this report, Trump’s discussions with these African heads of State will focus on a wide range of bilateral issues but with emphasis on two main areas: economic and security issues.

The lineup of African leaders to meet U.S. President includes:

1) H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal 🇸🇳

Who’s Killing Liberia?

The blame for what Liberia has become falls squarely on you and me.

Our wickedness stinks to the high heavens as we go about our daily lives pulling down everyone and everything just to become rich.

We import substandard products, fake drugs, and expired baby food unfit for human consumption. We poison our people and destroy our environment without remorse.

We steal from widows, orphans, and refugees taking what little they have and selling it for personal gain. No conscience. No fear of God. Nothing is sacred.

We even go as far as killing our own friends and relatives just to seize their hard-earned properties, lands, and inheritance.
Greed has turned us into monsters. We value property more than people.

We throw garbage on the streets, refuse to paint our homes, and allow overgrown grass and filth to surround our houses.
We won’t fix the road leading to our gates but will sit and wait for the government to do it.
The dirt is killing us, and still, we do nothing.

We have gotten used to people walking in impunity, no shame, no consequence.
Even worse, we support corruption and wrongdoing simply because it directly benefits us.

We cheer for thieves when they're our relatives. We vote for crooks when they're our tribe.
We close our eyes to injustice if it feeds our pockets.

No one is spared.

Our architects, engineers, and contractors build substandard roads, schools, houses, and hospitals cutting corners and putting lives at risk all for profit. And life, once lost, cannot be bought with all the money or contract kickbacks.

You’d think this behavior is reserved for Zogos, but no, these acts are committed by churchgoers, Muslims, husbands, wives, and sadly, the youth. People who look respectable but act no better than street criminals.

We have perfected the art of perverting justice, pretending we don’t know right from wrong just to protect our selfish interests.

Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah is facing serious allegations of corruption regarding the issuance of over 10,000 work permits to foreign nationals, mainly Chinese for jobs that Liberians can perform.

An investigation by Verity News uncovered a letter signed by Kruah granting a fee waiver for 42 Chinese workers at Bangali PTE Limited, which was not legally justified. Reports suggest that each waiver was obtained through a direct payment of $250 to Kruah, raising concerns about the misuse of authority to divert government revenue.

Sources claim that similar waivers have benefited various subcontractors, further depriving the Liberian government. A labor expert has called for a comprehensive investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, urging President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to take decisive action to restore public trust in the labor sector.

Minister Kruah, who has previously faced accusations of embezzling over $1.6 million, is under scrutiny for his actions, prompting political opponents to question the president's inaction in addressing corruption within his administration. Many are questioning why Minister Kruah remains in a key cabinet position despite these serious allegations.

"THE REBURIAL OF FORMER PRESIDENTS WILLIAM R. TOLBERT AND SAMUEL K. DOE, WHAT THIS MEANS FOR LIBERIA.

I’ve read a few comments trivializing and politicizing the reburial of Presidents Tolbert and Doe. This is not a mere fulfillment of a ‘political pledge’ by President Boakai, but also a genuine demonstration of a commitment to reconciliation and nation-building. No sincere, remorseful, patriotic, progressive, and optimistic Liberian could fail to appreciate and support this effort. It was not only a welcome—albeit long overdue—action, but perhaps the most impactful and sincere post-war initiative yet, setting the stage for genuine healing, reconciliation, and national unity. The impact of the Liberian crisis affected all Liberians; pains, loses, regrets, and the many other strong sentiments all still linger.

I came across a post by C Cecil Dennis III. What a profound reflection, woven from a kaleidoscope of pain, anguish, humility, hope, resilience, and patriotism; I encourage others to please read it. I commend you, Mr. Dennis, and hope that, like you, all Liberians—regardless of ethnicity, creed, color, or their role in our past crises, whether as perpetrators or victims—will find peace, compassion, and the will to reconcile so that together we can rebuild our nation.

Liberia possesses immense opportunities, yet after 179 years, we continue to lag behind in nearly every area of society. At last, however, there is hope. But to move forward, we must identify—or rediscover—our national identity and shared values, and break free from the corrosive social mentality that keeps us divided and holds us back: the constant search for what separates us and harms others.

By all means, there is much more we need to do as Liberians. I believe this is just the first of many meaningful and deliberate steps by President Boakai and his administration toward genuine reconciliation and nation-building. May God b

The airwaves are increasingly becoming a battleground for political influence rather than a platform for objective journalism.
While many individuals claim to be journalists, their actions suggest otherwise, as they use radio stations to push political party agendas rather than uphold professional media ethics.
A growing concern among media observers is the blatant bias exhibited by several radio personalities who, under the guise of journalism, actively promote the interests of their political godfathers.

Their frustration has only intensified following the recent elections, which did not go in their favor.
The ownership structure of Liberia’s radio landscape plays a significant role in this situation.
Reports indicate that approximately 95 percent of radio stations in the country are owned by politicians.

This ownership dynamic raises serious questions about press freedom, neutrality, and the role of media in shaping public discourse.
As a result, instead of serving as a platform for balanced reporting and public interest journalism, many of these stations have become tools for political propaganda.
With their financial backing coming from politicians, broadcasters are often compelled to align with the views and directives of their benefactors.
This trend has led to growing concerns about the integrity of the media sector in Liberia. Critics argue that the profession is being hijacked by individuals who, rather than practicing objective journalism, are using their positions to manipulate public opinion in favor of their preferred political leaders.

As Liberia continues to navigate its democratic journey, media stakeholders are calling for stronger regulations to ensure that radio stations operate independently and uphold ethical journalism standards.
Without such measures, the country risks further erosion of public trust in the media, as the lines between journalism and political activism continue to blur.
