According to him, he found the cash laying beside the Barclayville-Pleedo highway and decided to return it as an act of honesty. MARYLAND: As part of efforts to enhance Children Education in her Native Home Land, Mrs. Karthlyn S. Jlaka and her Donors have responded to an “SOS CALL” from three Elementary Schools in Harper District, Maryland County - Liberia by donating essential school supplies.

The Presentation of the Materials, which captured Duokudi, Grand Cavalla and Karblehkeh Public Schools was done during separately and well attended Ceremonies held on May 17, 24 and 30, 2025 respectively.

Items donated include; Test Books, Computer, Printer, Bag-packs, safe Drinking Water Buckets, Cups, Stationaries, Chalks, Black-boards among others. Madam Jlaka is a Liberian humanitarian whose activities focused on making contributions to the Less Privileged in the Areas of Education and Health.

She indicated that during her visit to the District in early 2025, Citizens and Residents of the Area confronted her on urgent needs for their Children's School and Health Sectors thus prompting the SOS CALL for Donor support.

According to her, immediately she began to reach out to Friends and Well-wishers with great interest in Children's Education to come to the aid of the three (3) Elementary Schools.

“Children's Education, is important in every Society, but has less attention in my Country Liberia, most especially, my Harper District”. She pointed out.

Embattled Speaker Koffa Charts Path to Unity Amid Legislative Transition—Resignation Looms?

The Embattled Speaker of Liberia's House of Representatives has addressed circulating rumors about his position, emphasizing transparency and respect for the Supreme Court's ruling on the legislative impasse. He announced ongoing consultations with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure a smooth transition while prioritizing national unity. The Speaker urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified claims that could sow division, reaffirming his commitment to upholding the nation's laws and fostering political compromise.

Below is His full statement .

Statement from the Speaker of the House of Representatives

I have become aware of statements circulating on social and other media platforms that make insinuations regarding my position as Speaker of the House of Representatives. While I am deeply touched by the outpouring of concern for my personal well-being and the integrity of the office I hold, I wish to address these matters with clarity and transparency.

I have always maintained that the laws of our nation must serve as the ultimate foundation for resolving disputes, including the current impasse within the legislature. The Supreme Court’s recent ruling has definitively resolved this matter, and I fully respect and uphold its decision.

In light of this, I am actively engaging in consultations with stakeholders across the country, including my colleagues from all sides in the legislature, regarding my transition from the position and to determine the appropriate path forward. I commit to keeping the public informed as these discussions progress. In the meantime, I urge all citizens to refrain from amplifying unsubstantiated claims that risk fostering unnecessary confusion or division.
