My people, let us be honest with ourselves: parties do not make Liberia, Liberians do. Parties rise and fall, leaders come and go, but the Republic remains because it is built on the sweat, the sacrifice, and the shared blood of its people.

When our forefathers declared independence in 1847, they did not say โWe the True Whig Partyโ or โWe the Congress for Democratic Change.โ No! They said, โWe the People of the Republic of Liberia.โ The Constitution begins with the people, not politicians. That sacred document, the foundation of our freedom, reminds us that sovereignty belongs to the people and all power is inherent in the people. Not in one tribe. Not in one county. Not in one party. In the people!
But today, what do we see? Hateful language tearing families apart. Tribalism raising its ugly head again. Political segregation making some feel more Liberian than others. And while we fight each other with words of bitterness, corruption robs our resources, foreign companies exploit our workers, and the poor sink deeper into misery.
I ask you: Is this what our ancestors fought for? Is this the Liberia of Joseph Jenkins Roberts, of Edward J. Roye, of Albert Porte, of Gabriel Kpolleh, of all those who stood tall for justice and equality?
Let us remember our history: Liberia collapsed into war not because of hunger alone, but because of division, hatred, exclusion, and injustice. The cries of โyou are not one of usโ turned into gunfire that killed our brothers and sisters. We must never walk that path again.
Fellow Liberians, the Constitution charges us to โlive together in peace and harmony, to practice fraternal love, and to promote unity.โ These are not empty words. They are a duty, a national obligation. If we fail to unite, we betray the very spirit of our Republic.
So I say: enough of the insults! Enough of the tribal superiority! Enough of the politics of hate! We are Liberians first, everything else is second.
If we must disagree, let us disagree with dignity. If we must debate, let us debate with ideas. If we must fight, let us fight poverty, corruption, injustice, and exploitation, not each other.
My call today is simple but urgent: Let us reclaim Liberia from the hands of hate and rebuild it with the bricks of unity, love, and justice. We cannot eat insults. We cannot drink division. We cannot build a future on tribal lines. But we can build a future on unity, because united, we are strong; divided, we are nothing.
Let the world hear it loud and clear: Liberia is bigger than any party, any politician, any tribe, and any government. And as long as Liberians stand together, no force of hate will ever break us again.
โBefore parties, before tribes, there was Liberia. Together, we rise.โ~George S Tengbeh
