UNDERSTANDING DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY
Depression and anxiety are two of the most common mental health conditions, and while they often occur together, they are distinct in their symptoms and effects.
DEPRESSION
Depression is a mood disorder that causes persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest or pleasure in activities. It can affect how a person thinks, feels, and functions in daily life.

Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
Changes in sleep (insomnia or excessive sleeping)
Appetite changes (weight loss or gain)
Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
Thoughts of self-harm or su***de
ANXIETY
Anxiety is a natural response to stress, but when it becomes excessive, persistent, or interferes with daily life, it may be classified as an anxiety disorder.
COMMON SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY:
Excessive worry or fear
Restlessness or feeling on edge
Increased heart rate or palpitations
Trouble sleeping
Muscle tension or headaches
Difficulty concentrating
Irritability
Avoidance of situations that cause distress
How They Are Connected
Many people experience both depression and anxiety at the same time.
Anxiety can lead to depression when chronic worry and fear cause feelings of hopelessness.
Depression can cause anxiety, as persistent sadness can lead to excessive worrying about the future.
