NALEDI APPOINTS INTERIM MANAGING DIRECTOR ..after executive suspensions

Naledi Funeral Planners has appointed an interim managing director following the suspension of two senior executives amid an escalating governance dispute at the company.

In a notice to employees, the Board of Directors announced that Mr Tsolo Blessed Seutloali assumed the role of Interim Managing Director with effect from 8 June 2026.

The board also confirmed that, following the suspension of the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, who also served as Company Secretary, those responsibilities will temporarily fall under Mr Seutloali’s office.

The appointment follows dramatic developments at Naledi over the weekend after the company suspended Chief Executive Officer Mosoeu Mabote and Corporate Secretary and Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Advocate Peter Matekane, pending investigations into alleged misconduct, governance failures and compliance concerns.

The suspensions sparked tensions at the company’s Temong headquarters after reports that armed men believed to be soldiers accompanied one of the suspended executives during an attempt to access company premises. The Lesotho Defence Force has denied any official involvement in the incident.

Naledi’s board says Mr Seutloali will now lead management operations and exercise powers delegated by the board during the interim period.

Employees have been instructed to cooperate fully and channel matters previously directed to the chief executive officer or company secretary through the Interim Managing Director until further notice.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Germany, H.E. Mrs. Mafelile Molala, is participating in the sixty-fourth session of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) in Bonn, an important platform advancing global climate negotiations ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.

The Ambassador held a meeting with the Head of the Adaptation Fund - Mr. Mikko Ollikainen to continue engagement on the Fund-supported work in Lesotho, with particular focus on the project “Improving Adaptive Capacity of Vulnerable and Food-Insecure Populations in Lesotho (Phase II),” implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP).

The project supports the vulnerable communities through climate-smart agriculture, improved natural resource management, and strengthened food security to better withstand the impacts of climate change.

On the sidelines, the Ambassador met with the Lesotho delegation to align on coordination priorities, share updates, and reinforce Lesotho’s strategic positioning in the negotiations, ensuring a coordinated national approach on adaptation, climate finance, and other priority issues.
