I’m truly excited and grateful to share that I’m back on Lesotho television screens as a Sign Language Interpreter.

You can catch us every Wednesday at 8PM on Tsa Mahlale (a program dedicated to promoting innovation and showcasing the incredible projects being developed by Basotho).

This moment means a lot to me. It reflects the strength of the brand I’ve built as an interpreter and reinforces a cause that is deeply important to me: inclusion. The Deaf community is often left out of critical conversations, especially around ,science, technology, mathemetics, arts and innovation, and that is something I have always been passionate about changing.

When my team and I won this opportunity, it was clearly stated that Sign Language Interpreting would be a prerequisite for whoever secured the tender. That, for me, was a powerful win for inclusion as we were already ahead . It also brought me full circle, as I had previously approached this team to work with them after recognizing how much vital information the Deaf community was missing.

Today, I stand proud, not just for myself, but for what this represents.

Inclusion should never be optional. It should be for all. Beata Matasane Emily
