The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) Secretary General, Mokhosi Mohapi, has backed Lifofane Football Club over the transfer fee they have placed on their attacker, Thabo Maphakisa. This follows reports by this publication that the Botha-Bothe-based side is demanding more than half a million maloti for any club wishing to enter negotiations for the player.
Mohapi said clubs invest heavily in their players, and therefore it is unrealistic for other teams to expect to acquire them without proper compensation. He explained that Lifofane scouted Maphakisa, brought him to Lesotho, paid his signing-on fee, and continues to meet his monthly salary obligations.
He was responding to concerns raised by some football supporters who argued that the playerโs valuation is excessive, noting that the amount being demanded exceeds the prize money awarded to league champions.
The league leaders are reportedly demanding M750,000 from Lijabatho FC, who have approached them to open negotiations for the forward.
