Theunissen Police Seek Public Help in Locating Missing Initiate
The Theunissen Police Department is urgently seeking the public's assistance in locating 20-year-old Andile Petrus Zungulwa, a missing initiate who vanished from a local initiation school on Saturday, 28 June 2025.

According to reports, a group of males attacked initiates and teachers at the school on Friday, 27 June 2025, resulting in a visitor being stabbed and hospitalized. The initiates fled the scene, and while most regrouped and returned, Andile was discovered missing the following morning.

Andile was last seen wearing a blue blanket. The Theunissen Police, along with Vala Umgodi combat and proactive teams, have launched a search for the missing individual.

⚠️ Vaal River System – Evacuation Alert ⚠️

Department of Water and Sanitation South Africa has issued a critical warning following rapidly rising water levels at the Vaal Dam due to ongoing rainfall in the catchment area.

A fifth sluice gate has been opened to manage the overflow. This has led to increased outflows that are now heading downstream toward the Vaal Barrage and Bloemhof Dam, with possible overtopping of riverbanks expected in low-lying areas.

Communities, farmers, and residents living within the 100-year flood line are urged to evacuate immediately. Please remove livestock, movable infrastructure, and valuable equipment to avoid loss.

Current Dam Levels & Flow Rates:

Grootdraai Dam: 101.39% – One sluice open | Outflow: 175 m³/s

Vaal Dam: 110.32% – Fifth gate opened | Inflow: 1127 m³/s | Outflow: 732.37 m³/s

Vaal Barrage: 7.52m – 11+ gates opened | Outflow: 1280.00 m³/s

Bloemhof Dam: 104.39% | Outflow: 1400 m³/s

Vanderkloof Dam: 83.43%

The Department is conducting controlled releases to protect dam infrastructure, and updates will continue to be shared via official platforms.

The investigation into the r**e of seven-year-old Cwecwe has taken a turn, after her mother was involved in a car accident on the way to an interview with police. However the police will still look into Cwecwe's medical records.
