The Last Dog on Earth wins the Pop Up Film Residency Award at ! ✨

Selected from 22 projects in development by the WEMW Co-Production Forum international committee, The Last Dog on Earth received our Pop Up Film Residency Award last night. In November 2025, Ukrainian writer and director Marysia Nikitiuk ( ) spent three weeks in Vilnius at the Pop Up Film Residency, supported by Eurimages. Hosted by Marija Razgute ( ) and mentored by Marija Kavtaradze ( ), Marysia developed her upcoming third feature Noah. The film follows a unit of combat engineers advancing toward the Russian border during Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Kharkiv, driven by hope of victory and unaware of the brutal war still ahead.

We’re happy to welcome Ukrainian director and screenwriter 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗡𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘂 as our next resident for the Pop Up Film Residency Eurimages 2025!

After writing several short films and the feature film 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 (selected in Festival de Cannes), Marysia transitioned to directing. Her debut feature 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘍𝘢𝘭𝘭 premiered at the 68th Berlinale, followed by 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭, which screened at the PÖFF Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

She is now developing 𝑵𝑶𝑨𝑯, a war-action feature following a unit of combat engineers advancing toward the Russian border during Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Kharkiv in August 2022.

𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻 took was in 𝗣𝗼𝗽 𝗨𝗽 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗡𝗖, in partnership with the CNC - Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée and designed to promote Iranian filmmakers. She worked there on her project 𝑴𝑬𝑳𝑳𝑶𝑾 𝑷𝑰𝑵𝑲
𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗻 was in 𝑷𝒐𝒑 𝑼𝒑 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝑷𝒓𝒐, in partnership with Cinéma de Demain and 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒎 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒓, to work on his project 𝑩𝑬𝑹𝑮𝑰𝑬𝑺.

We had the pleasure of welcoming the 2025 Pop Up Film Residency Projeto Paradiso in Revine, Lago. Brazilian director 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁 was hosted by Lago Film Fest Founder and Art Director 𝗩𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘁 and mentored by Italian producer 𝗘𝗻𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗶.

Lago proved to be an incredible and intimate setting for Julia, who could concentrate fully on developing the script of her upcoming project 𝑾𝑯𝑰𝑻𝑬 𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑲𝑺. Julia also benefited from a tailored-made online consultation with script consultant 𝗠𝗺𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼 𝗞𝗮𝘂.
