đ âIf you look at the dimension of the money invested, the first big amount going to a startup is very often public money â grants, research. And the second one in terms of money to come after is the business angel,â said Michel Rzonzef, president and chairman of the LBAN - Luxembourg Business Angel Network , an organisation that quietly pumps essential fuel into the Grand Duchyâs entrepreneurial engine.

Silicon Luxembourg is the B2B media platform dedicated to the news of startups in Luxembourg.
Since its debut in October 2013, weâve grown from a news source to a network hub in the Grand Duchy. Whether youâre looking for news, events, or jobs as an individual or chances to expand your visibility as a company, Silicon Luxembourg is here for you.
Silicon Luxembourg has a 60% readership outside of Luxembourg, with the US, France, Belgium, Germany, the UK, and Spain taking the top nine positions after Luxembourg. Weâve had over 1.5 million page views over the past six years, and have 35,000 views per month on average.
We ship our print edition âSilicon Luxembourgâ magazine to 30 countries around the world, which shows international attention turning towards one of the smallest countries in the world.
About our magazine itself, launched in July 2016, it has become over the years a must-read publication in the country. From the outset, we have been committed to highlighting those who innovate and take risks. We put the spotlight on entrepreneurs, especially the younger ones who suffer from a lack of visibility in the mainstream media.
The magazine has undergone four graphic evolutions. First of all, at the beginning of 2016, we created two pilot magazines as a supplement to a Luxembourg IT magazine. The covers were designed by independent graphic designers and calls for projects for the covers were relayed on our social networks with a public vote for the best one each time. Then from July 2016 to July 2017, we reviewed the layout for the first time with a duo of independent graphic designers and proposed colour covers featuring an entrepreneur (alternating between men and women). In November 2018, we made an evolution of this layout (margins, black and white covers) with the duo who launched during this period their own design studio, Deuux.
In May 2019 we completely rebranded our magazine and developed a new layout and a new master. This change was accompanied by a local graphic design studio, Studio Polenta. The entire charter, from the structure to the typography, the mood board for the photos, the grid for the texts... The result is a "bold" title, in lower case, which is in line with the trend of typography used in the technology sector. The treatment of the second i is also a new wink that we have added on all our covers (pixels for the Digital Services edition, crunch for the FoodTech edition, equal sign for the Gender Equality edition, virus for the Covid edition). Luxembourg now also appears vertically on the right to reinforce our registered trademark "Silicon Luxembourg". For this new cover, a new layout has been proposed. A pantone colour and a strong icon in line with the main theme of the magazine, a theme succinctly evoked at the bottom of the cover page with the magazine's number. On the edge of the magazine, three pieces of information: the Silicon Luxembourg brand, our tagline "The Startup Magazine" and the issue number. Thanks to this new treatment our magazine has once again gained visibility with a more significant visual impact, particularly on the newsstands where our magazine is available, but also on all displays at our partners' premises, at events, on our online shop and in mails when the magazine is ordered. Editions are now more easily identifiable thanks to their unique colour codes.
Silicon Luxembourg is one of the few magazines in Europe (and an independent one at that) to deal with the news of startups (mainly digital) with a print version.
