Instudio è una indagine analitica ed estetica dedicata interamente agli spazi di lavoro, materiali e immateriali, teorici e pratici, degli artisti in Italia. Costruito come un archivio di video, Instudio nasce dal desiderio di documentare e raccogliere in un unico luogo gli ambienti, spesso sconosciuti, che circondano gli artisti al lavoro. Attraverso le immagini filmate e le parole degli stessi a

rtisti, Instudio desidera tradurre in un documento visuale l’esperienza privata della visita agli studi, filtrata attraverso la sensibilità e il punto di vista dei loro proprietari. Senza partire infatti da definizioni precostituite di ‘studio’, ‘arte’ o ‘artista’, Instudio si affida a un’indagine sul campo per tentare di offrire un’immagine frammentaria ma sincera di cosa gli studi sono, sono stati e potrebbero diventare.

Instudio is an analytic and aesthetic inquiry fully devoted to the workspace of artists in Italy, be it material or immaterial, theoretical or practical. Conceived as a video archive, Instudio grew from the desire of documenting and collecting in a single place the often-unknown spaces that surround the artists at work. Through the filmed images and the words of the artists themselves, Instudio wishes to translate into a visual document the private experience of a studio visit, filtered by the sensibility and the point of view of its owner. Distancing itself from preconceived definitions of “studio”, “art” or “artist”, Instudio trusts an on-field inquiry to achieve a fragmented but sincere image of what studios are, were, and could become.

👁 Alice Visentin Now Streaming
Continuing the analysis of the artist studio as a diffused site, Instudio follows Alice Visentin’s narration of her expanded studio inside the Sporting Dora complex in Turin: a “hyper-fascinating place”, far away from everyday life and, therefore, essential to find her space of freedom to work.
The video has been realized with the support of Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Rio de Janeiro, in collaboration with AMACI, the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro, and the Consolato d’Italia a Belo Horizonte.

Back in July, Instudio was invited to participate at the 3rd edition of Supercondominio, a gathering of the new and independent contemporary art spaces in Italy, curated by Giulia Colletti, Treti Galaxie e Laura Lecce at Castello di Rivoli in Turin.

We are thrilled to announce the release of a new video about Giulia Cenci for the 16th edition of thanks to Mudam Luxembourg Museum and Ambasciata d'Italia in Lussemburgo.

After four years we came back to visit Giulia Cenci in her studio in Tuscany, to discover how much her environment, tools and landscape evolved in a new and unique habitat, full of horses, hens and freedom.

The video was produced within the framework of the exhibition Giulia Cenci 2019 Baloise Art Prize | Collection Mudam, 12.09.2020 — 17.01.2021, at Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, with the support of the Ambasciata d’Italia Lussemburgo.
