Basic tips on creating Instagram Filter

We think that due to the overload of the amount of content published in social networks, Instagram Filter can be a good tool that will help to stand out from the competition.

We suggest 3 basic tips that will help to create a filter that will catch the attention of the audience. The filter should be: fun, relevant and creative.

👉 Funny. Filter which is fun has the potential to get out of Instagram and can be republished in other networks like TikTok or Snapchat. The filter should entertain and give the opportunity to reproduce usage of it in the real-life of users.

👉Trending. Filters should appeal to something that is trending right now. For example, in light of COVID-19 we created masks with the following question “How many kilos I will add after carnitine?”. A filter is a form of a meme. If you get the mechanics, you increase the chances of it becoming viral.

👉 Creative. It features a bright idea. After 26 years on the market, Latvian brand Kārums, which produces glazed mini cheesecake, managed to create fandom. We have created a mask that allows loyal customers to become a cheesecake and spread the love to Kārums.

Consumption process for many products is associated with the mood you have while consuming it. Some fans shared the mask saying: Mood Kārums because Kārums are associated with fast and tasty snacks, sort of a short break and relief.

As part of our side-project Filter Church, we will be sharing lessons we have learned while creating masks and filters for Instagram.

How can Instagram users find my filter?

After you have successfully uploaded your filter and went through the moderation process you will see a new tab in your profile. The filter will be available as long as you like it.

👉 When a user is publishing an Instagram Story with your filter, the name of the filter will be shown as a link in the upper left corner under his profile name.

👉 If users who used your filter have public accounts, then you can see all stories where your filter was used.

👉 Each filter has its own link. You can share it on Instagram and elsewhere. For example, you can feature it on your website, messenger or as part of your marketing campaign.

👉 If the video with your Instagram becomes trending, then it will be shown in Recommendations feed. Creating engaging filters that are actively used increases your chances of getting discovered by more users.

Me: What data do you get about the performance of your Instagram effect?
Kanye: No one knows what it means, but it's provocative.

Back on point.

I have attached a sample with insights for Instagram effects from one of the cases we did.

Understanding what each stat means is not so straightforward (at least that was my first impression). It took me several times to read to actually understand what it means.

Spark dashboard shows you:

1. Camera impression - how many times someone tried effect on camera, but didn't post it.

2. Story impressions - quite clear, how many times someone took the image with effect and shared it in stories.

3. Captures - a bit more complicated. This is the number of times when someone used effect but did not share it. At first, my reaction was - weird flex, but ok. But then, I got it.

Firstly, you are curious, you want to try this out and see how it works/looks. So capturing & not sharing is a logical thing to do & track. Still, that is a form of engagement.

4. Shares are the number of times someone took and shared an effect in the story.

This summer was crazy. Scooter sharing came to our hometown. Lots of great companies disrupting the way we move across the city. Like A LOT.
