Greek temples with 2500 years of history 🏛️✨

Archaeological Park of Paestum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was one of my favorite places to visit near the Amalfi Coast. 🤩 It was just as impressive and unique as Pompeii! I didn’t expect much to be left of a 2,500-year-old place but I was wrong - Paestum features multiple large Greek temples which are dedicated to deities like Hera, Athena, and Poseidon. 🧜🏻‍♂️

Many travelers favor this archaeological site instead of Pompeii because this place is lesser known and not as crowded 🙌

exploring ancient Greek temples in Paestum 🏛️✨ have you heard of this hidden gem not too far from the Amalfi Coast, Italy? 😲 The Paestum archaeological site features massive, over 2500-year-old Greek temples, and the best part is that you can actually walk inside them and touch them! 🙌

These are some of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world, even better than many you might find in Greece!

Fiordo di Furore 💦 where the mountains meet the sea in the most dramatic way possible 🤩

Insider tip! Don’t bring your drone over here. We saw one drown and there was another one already waiting at the bottom of the sea 😅 but too deep to get it out without equipment (a few people tried, but no luck)

the ancient ghost town of Pompeii ✨🫥

I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers hearing about this fateful ancient city in history lessons at school. Did you hear about it, too? 🧐

Pompeii was once a bustling Roman city of 10 to 15 thousand residents, sitting at the foot of Mount Vesuvius, until one fateful day in 79 AD, when Vesuvius violently erupted and covered everything under layers and layers of volcanic ash. 🌋

It definitely felt a bit strange to walk down these streets. Isn’t this an actual cemetary turned tourist attraction? 😶

the iconic Fiordo di Furore 😍

I’m sure you’ve seen this deep and narrow cove all over the internet – it is one of the most famous spots on the Amalfi Coast ✨

Despite its name (fiordo=fjord), technically it is not a fjord, because fjords are formed by glaciers, but this fjord-like gorge was formed by a river. 😅 Nevertheless, this place is a must-visit on the Amalfi Coast! 🤩

This area is known as ‘the Divine Coast’ for a reason, and to see it all from above is nothing short of spectacular 😍

Amalfi off the beaten path 🐾 Hike to Valle delle Ferriere goes along ruins of old mills, lemon groves and numerous waterfalls 💦 the perfect place to get away from Amalfi crowds and get lost in nature 🌿

One of my favorite perks of slow traveling and digital nomading is the possibility to explore places off the beaten path and far beyond the typical hotspots on every traveler’s bucket list ☺️ yes, there are ‘hidden’ places in every popular tourist destination ✨
