With the support of the military and aerial units, firefighters battled 21 major wildfires across western Spain on Wednesday as extreme summer heat and strong winds fueled the blazes, according to the country’s Civil Protection Director, Virginia Barcones.

The fires, all rated level 2—the most severe—have already forced dozens of villages to evacuate and have killed four people.

Barcones said cooler temperatures had slightly eased conditions, but gusty winds and the absence of rain continue to hinder firefighting efforts.

Authorities continue enforcing the traffic law on modified motorcycles after a reported 21% rise in road deaths and serious injuries in early 2025 from last year.

Discussions between the Transport Ministry, NARSA, unions, and civil society are still underway to determine a compliance period, but no grace deadline has been set.

Well-informed sources also dismissed claims of a government intervention to suspend enforcement.

Morocco’s Minister of Education Azzedine El Midaoui recently announced that Moroccan universities will no longer use written or oral exams to admit students into master’s programs as a measure to curb academic scandals, such as the recent “Master Qilich” case.

Under the new system, candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent will enter master’s programs through selective application reviews, while students from Centers of Excellence will be automatically admitted. Selection committees at each institution will evaluate applications, issue acceptance lists, and manage waiting lists.

He has reportedly been named in the preliminary lists of both nations ahead of the U20 World Cup in Chile from Sept. 27 to Oct. 19, and must now decide which jersey to wear.

As Morocco celebrates its National Youth Day, the country’s youth face a grim reality of economic and political marginalization, a report from the Moroccan League of Human Rights warns.

Unemployment is still one of the biggest obstacles to integration. Official data shows that over a third of Morocco’s young people (around 36%) are jobless, with the rate reaching 40% in some rural regions.

With few opportunities in the formal job market, many turn to the informal economy, where 67% of youth work without contracts, benefits, or social protections, leaving them exposed to exploitation.
