U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the United States and Iran had reached a peace agreement, declaring an end to more than three months of conflict that began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all!” Trump said in a statement.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also confirmed that a ceasefire was “now in place,” saying both sides had agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Sharif added that a formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in Geneva, Switzerland.
