The ARREST Agenda Unpacked....one year four month achievements of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai's Administration, plus more.
“The following institutions in no specific order are performing exceptionally well:
1. LPRC - Gas is available and affordable.
2. NPA - Import and export fees have been significantly reduced.
3. LWSC - Water is available and regular. Water processing and supply systems are being set up in various communities across the country. The sewage management by the LWSC is similarly topnotch – go across Monrovia today, you will barely see clutch sewage lines and that's because the management is very effective.
4. LEC - There has been a significant improvement in the stability of electrical current across the country, which is also boosting businesses.
5. GAC - Regular and quarterly audits are being conducted to keep the government in check in terms of mitigating corruption.
6. MFDP - The economy is performing well, with little or no challenge of inflation. Civil servants have received salary increases, and their salaries are coming in regularly without commercial banks refusing to release them. Negotiations are ongoing between the government and partners to boost infrastructure developments.
7. MPW - Impressive work is being carried out, including the pavement of community roads, the construction of overhead bridges, the bridge between Gbarpolu and B**g, the bridge connecting Liberia with Ivory Coast, the signing of the agreement for the construction of the Vai Town-Freeport Road, the construction of the Freeport-Duala Road, the construction of the Grand Cape Mount Road, the negotiation with the government of Kuwait for the continuation of the Gbarnga– Lofa road and the construction of the Nimba to Zewdu Road.
8. NTA – They have revitalized the buses that were down and are now running.
9. MoME/Ministry of Mines and Energy – They have streamlined and put in place a proper mechanism for the issuance of licenses, and the increase in revenue generation by the Minister and his team must be commended.
10. MoFA/Ministry of Foreign Affairs – The campaign for a Non-member Seat on the United Nations Security Council, the speedy processing of passports, and the scrutiny and security measures put in place in the issuance of passports – Officials and Diplomatic, to avoid selling our passports to the wrong people and foreign nationals.
11. MoA/Ministry of Agriculture – The 77-cubic-meter Cold Storage facility in Nimba County, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) rice production project, the modern Piggery Farm and Livestock Farmers field School in Nimba County, and the US$26 million Poultry and Fertiliser factory, among other significant projects.
12. MoL/Ministry of Labour – The Ministry of Labor is doing an impressive job in fighting against bad labour practices across the country, and the process of issuing work permits is now more rigorous than before. The Ministry has also performed extremely well with revenue generation over the past budget year.
13. MoH/Ministry of Health – Specialized doctors' salaries have been increased, and health workers are being prioritized.
14. LNP/Liberia National Police – The rigidity in the fight against crimes and insecurity across the country is something very impressive. Road safety and the management of traffic across the country are also being handled well by the LNP.
15. LTA – The redirection of the cable wire to foster a stable Internet connection, the different promotional data programs by the GSM companies, and the emergence of Starlink, one of the world's high-speed, low-latency Internet providers.
16. NFA— The National Fire Service (NFA) has been commendably addressing recent fire accidents nationwide. The government's efforts in procuring new fire trucks and equipment to strengthen the institution deserve acknowledgement.
17. Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) – The LRA has significantly contributed to placing the government on a solid economic footing by increasing domestic revenue and boosting the national budget by approximately US$800 million.
18. Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) – This institution is dedicated to safeguarding the future of the current and future generations by combating drug smuggling. Unlike the previous administration when the consumption of Kush and other harmful substances was prevalent, today, several significant players in the drug smuggling business have been apprehended.
19. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) – From safeguarding our communities to shutting down businesses posing environmental health hazards, the EPA plays a crucial role in protecting our environment.
While there is always room for improvement from the government to meet our people's expectations, we, as citizens, should also appreciate these institutions for prioritizing the well-being of the populace and the nation above all else.
Note: There may be other institutions performing equally well that I may not have mentioned or am not fully familiar with their operations.”
