Overview
In the late 1970s, a group of teenagers from Ustrzyki Dolne, led by rebellious vocational student Siczka, decide to become punks after hearing the S*x Pistols on a foreign radio station. Inspired, they write to Radio Free Europe asking for more "music of free people." To their surprise, the letter is read live, sparking a weekly punk music show.

This innocent act draws the attention of Poland’s secret police. Officer Jerzy Majak warns Siczka that Ustrzyki Dolne is no place for punk. But the group defies him, forming the band KSU and bringing punk style and spirit into their quiet town—chains, mohawks, and all. As KSU gains fame in Poland’s underground scene, they face growing resistance from state authorities determined to silence them.

Kahuna : El Camino de Hielo | Official Selection | SIFF 25

Overview
Two years ago, the Kahuna team carried out a sailing and skiing expedition in Norway and Svalbard during a break in their studies. Graduating at the end of 2023, and keen to keep the flame of adventure alive, Baptistin and Robin have set themselves a new challenge scientific exploration challenge in Patagonia. Leaving in mid-January 2024 for 40 days of total autonomy (both food and logistics), they covered more than 650km on water and ice. The expedition descended the Rio Baker and crossed Pacific fjords in packrafts, before crossing part of the Campo de Hielo Sur, from where they brought back samples and data for Chilean glaciologists.

Joined at the foot of the Hielo by the Arctic Fools, two filmmakers who are experts in polar conditions, the four of them hauled 350kg of equipment up to 1400m on the cap, then pulled their pulkas through storms and fog, through crevasses, to progress southwards and fulfil their scientific mission, providing information on the state of a research base that had been abandoned for several years. Finally, constrained by more extreme conditions than expected, and exceptionally crevassed terrain, the expedition re-evaluated its itinerary for a complete crossing of the Campo de Hielo to exit at Lago O'Higgins. They are bringing back a film from their journey, both to recount this performance of endurance and extreme resilience, and to bear witness to the state of melting and pollution of these isolated glacial sanctuaries.

Daguzi, a poor young man, finds a child named Bao drifting on the shore and decides to adopt him. However, Daguzi is captured by the ship's monster, who begins to turn him into a monster. Bao desperately tries to save his father. Meanwhile, the legends and ghost stories of the bay emerge, revealing many adventures, some of them particularly disturbing.

Overview
This movie tells the story of Ji Ji Ri Xi, who has many different identities. She is a wife, widow, mother, and Su Ni (which is the Chinese name of the women witch in Yi ethnic group). As a wife, she is under the control of her husband, who smokes, drinks, and gambles. Thus, she feels trapped and helpless. As a widow living in the Liangshan Region under Yi ethnic group’s control, which is a very traditional and male-dominated society. This makes her feel like an empty shell. As a mother, her eldest daughter is silent because of her father's death. However, she has to take care of her three daughters and two sons, as well as find food and clothing for her children. As a Su Ni, a witch in Yi culture, she tells fortunes and cures the people. Quite the contrary, she cannot take care of her own family.

This woman, who has been hurt by her many different identities, finally shows her life as it is with the camera. This film is director Ruixuan Hu's second short film about Yi ethnic group in Liangshan Region. While the first film was all about women dealing with hard times, this film is different: it not only shows the strength and hope of some mothers who never give up on their sons and daughters, it also shows the emotional pain that the next generation has because their fathers are dead. They grow up in a society where men are in charge, and when their dad dies, they don't have a householder. They don't have much hope for the future, even though the government has built schools and roads for them, it's still tough for them to change their poverty and their fate.
