I just arrived in northeast China and saw this🤯

I saw people bowing in front of this giant Mao statue and for a moment I honestly didn’t understand what was happening. Then I realized how strong the historical memory and socialist nostalgia still feels in this part of China 🇨🇳

Dongbei feels completely different from the ultra-futuristic image many people have of China. The atmosphere here is heavier, more industrial, almost frozen in another era, and honestly that’s what makes it so fascinating ❤️ I love 东北(dongbei): Northeast China

I’m about to travel to a lesser-visited part of China that I’m sure many of you will find very interesting… 👀

What I can say for now is that it’s a blend of cultures, languages, history, and of course… a border region (my favorite kind of place 😭).

I still can’t believe that in 2023 I randomly went to the top floor of my hospital and discovered that the “roof” was actually a public square… on the 22nd floor 🤣🔥

My video immediately blew up across social media and reached more than 50 million views. Back then, Chongqing was still barely known internationally. Now every day I see people recreating my video, and honestly it’s both fascinating and crazy to watch 👏🇨🇳

From a fisherman poor village to a tech mega city in 40 years. My mom witnessed it all! I still cannot believe that China was like that in the 80s! She had an incredible and very rare visit and met really welcoming people who invited her in their home 🥹🇨🇳
