Hi, come and join us 😍 We're a couple from Cornwall, in our fifties, exploring amazing destinations in Millie our Motorhome, hopping onboard a cruise or two, sharing travel tips and documenting every adventure along the way!

We needed to find Mark a hill to cycle up as it had been a few days and the withdrawal symptoms were starting to set in! 🚴‍♂️😂

For some reason, we had a campsite marked on Search for Sites from before we even left on this trip 🤷🏼‍♀️ Does anyone else do that pre-trip? Mark up lots of sites and then forget about them 🫤 We think it may have been the original place we were planning to meet up with our friends Barry and Caroline so decided we should all go and check it out as it was on a lake, only €21 on ACSI, sounded really nice and, most importantly, was near a hill.

Well, what can we say? Lac de Longemer was stunning.

We pulled up at Camping Les Jonquilles – slightly odd as the reception is actually on the other side of the road – and were told to go and choose our own pitch. You could have a lakeside pitch for an additional €9.50 a night, but Caroline spotted a couple that looked pretty close to the lake and weren’t extra, so those were the ones we chose.

Once we’d got set up it was time for the most important part of the day! A special delivery had kindly been sent to Mark by one of our YouTube subscribers who works StIves Brewery

She’d messaged and said that Mark should be drinking some proper Cornish beer so we arranged with the help of our friends, to have it delivered to him before our trip was over rather than waiting til we got home.

We were expecting a small taster pack but what actually arrived was 12 cans of beer and a couple of glasses! 🍻

Mark was literally in beer heaven and couldn’t wait to crack open the first one, a Slipway IPA (5%) and before long opened another one – Mean As IPA (5%)

Thank you so much Donna – you made a Cornishman far from home very, very happy! 😃

That evening, Barry and Caroline cooked fajitas for tea, which were delicious 😋 and I even made some cocktails 🍹

The next morning, Mark headed off to tackle the Col du Surceneux and Col de Collet, returning 29.5 miles later having ticked them off the list 🚴‍♂️⛰️

Once he was back and showered, we got ready to move on again, but in all honesty we could quite happily have stayed there for a few more days - the whole place had such a peaceful feel to it.

🇫🇷 Our next stop was Eguisheim. Yes, we’d gone straight back into France! Our days were starting to run out and we needed to begin heading north, but this little medieval village had been on my bucket list for a long time.

We travelled in convoy with our friends, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way before arriving at Camping des Trois Châteaux just as they opened at 2pm. It was incredibly busy, but we managed to grab the very last two pitches available – ones that weren’t even listed online.

It’s a small campsite, but the alternatives were a more expensive aire or parking at one of the local wineries. We paid €23 for our pitch with 16A electric hook-up, and although they don’t offer an ACSI discount, we thought it was pretty reasonable considering it’s only a five minute walk into the village.

And what a village it is! Eguisheim looks like something straight out of a fairytale and is said to have inspired the village in Beauty and the Beast 🏰✨

We walked into town and met up with our friend Dale, who was staying at one of the wineries nearby. We spent the afternoon wandering the colourful streets, spotting storks nesting high up on the rooftops, admiring the beautiful half-timbered buildings and stopping for a drink in one of the bars.

We then followed the circular walk that takes you around the village and past its most photographed building before stumbling across an American microbrewery. A couple of hours disappeared very quickly there! The boys enjoyed a beer flight while we listened to great music, chatted and had plenty of laughs together.

We had considered staying for a second night and visiting Colmar the following day, as we’d heard it was just as pretty, but with it being a Sunday we weren’t sure how reliable the buses would be. In the end, we decided it was time to move on once again.

Have you visited Eguisheim or Colmar? Which would you choose? 🇫🇷

🚐 The camper stop daHeim was pretty unusual. We were parked on the roof of a former metal factory, with four EHU pitches on the rooftop and another six on the ground floor.

Inside was a whole collection of caravans and quirky accommodation all under one roof – definitely not something we’ve come across before on our travels!

The facilities were excellent, with plenty of communal spaces to relax in, as well as a kitchen and laundry room for guests to use.

That evening we headed to the on-site restaurant for pizza and a couple of beers from their own microbrewery 🍻 – somebody was very happy about that 😂

At €29 a night we initially thought it was quite expensive, but it included tickets for four attractions, including the model village, Triberg Fantasy and the waterfalls, which alone cost €9 per person to visit, so it actually worked out pretty good value.

The next morning we checked out and made our way to the giant cuckoo clock on the edge of town. You can go inside and see the workings, but we were mainly there to watch it cuckoo on the hour before continuing our journey.

Triberg turned out to be one of those places that pleasantly surprised us. Between the waterfalls, cuckoo clocks, Black Forest gateau and this quirky camper stop, we packed a lot into 24 hours.

Have you ever stayed anywhere that was completely different to what you expected? 🚐🌲

52 years old. Quit my job. Travelled across Europe 🚐 🗺️

And this is what I’ve chosen to do with my life 😂

Life’s too short to take yourself too seriously.

If a giant cuckoo clock makes you laugh until you cry, so be it! 😂

🇩🇪 Have you ever heard of Triberg, right in the heart of the Black Forest?

It’s famous for a few things – traditional Black Forest gateau, cuckoo clocks and Germany’s highest waterfalls.

We met up with our friends Barry and Caroline who had arrived the day before. It was lovely to catch up with them after not seeing each other for the last four months.

There had definitely been a drop in temperature as we’d travelled further north and, by the time we arrived in Triberg, we’d swapped shorts and t-shirts for jeans, jumpers and boots! 🥶

After checking into our stellplatz – more on that in a separate post – we headed off to explore the town.

First, we visited the model village, packed with miniature scenes and tiny buildings showcasing life in the Black Forest.

Our next stop was Café Adler at Hotel Adler for a slice of traditional Black Forest gateau. This had been on my list of things to do for a long time but I have to admit it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was nice enough, but not something we’d rush back for! 😅

One thing you certainly won’t struggle to find in Triberg is a cuckoo clock! The streets are lined with shops selling every style imaginable, from tiny traditional clocks to huge handcrafted masterpieces.

We then popped into a traditional clothing shop where Mark tried on a pair of lederhosen, although he quickly decided they weren’t really his thing! 😂

One of the highlights of our visit was the famous Triberg Waterfalls. They are made up of seven cascades and the climb was definitely worth it, with plenty of viewing platforms and photo opportunities along the way as the water tumbled through the forest below 🌲

Back in town, we headed into Triberg Fantasy, a colourful photo museum packed with quirky themed rooms, optical illusions and plenty of opportunities for silly photos 🤪

Triberg was a lovely town to spend a few hours in and somewhere we’d definitely recommend if you’re exploring the Black Forest. Between the waterfalls, the gateau, the quirky attractions and the famous cuckoo clocks, there’s plenty to keep you entertained 🚐🌲

We thought we’d seen every type of camper stop in Europe… then we found one INSIDE a former factory!!

Would you stay here?

🚐 The last couple of days have been really busy but I'm now trying to get back up to date with our posts from the last couple of weeks ....

🇫🇷 We left Annecy and headed north - hoping to get to a Camping-Car Park nearer to Colmar but due to the SatNav continuously trying its best to take us into Switzerland and stopping for shopping - we decided to join our friend Dale once again at an old municipal campsite in Louhans, now taken over by the CCP which was great. It had good size pitches, toilets, showers and washing up facilities as well as the usual service point all for €14.45 including EHU and tourist tax.

The next day we headed convoy style further north again as we were both going in the same direction. We had quite a long drive and stopped in a random car park somewhere for some lunch and then went to another CCP in Fessenheim near to the Rhine and a stones throw away from the German border 🇩🇪

This was a very popular stop but thankfully we grabbed a couple of the last few places and stayed for two nights. It had a toilet and a shower as well which was a bonus and cost €15.44 with EHU and tourist tax.

Honestly if you haven't got the CAMPING-CAR PARK app we'd highly recommend it for travelling through France - the stops really are very good 😊

Mark went off for a bike ride which he said was ok but it took about 15 miles on dead flat long straight roads which he's not very keen on 😬😂 to get to bit of a hill - Col de Firstplan ⛰️ The weather wasn't the best but he cycled 47 miles altogether 🚴‍♂️

The following day we parted ways with Dale once again and headed off east into Germany 🇩🇪 Our first time on this trip 🚐

Good morning folks from a Paris campsite.

Yesterday was a massive day for us as it was our 21st wedding anniversary, now today is even bigger it's going to be epic because it's my wife's birthday.

Amanda and I are going to Disney with some great friends to celebrate. She has a Disney BIRTHDAY badge which will put her in the spotlight all day, not only from me but by all the Disney characters and staff.

And to be honest so she should be as she is amazing and such a beautiful person, l love her to bits and she is loved by so many others.

💕 Happy Anniversary to Us 💕

21 years of being Mr & Mrs D 🥰

And 22 years of adventures together – from our very first trip to Venice, to spending 137 days motoroaming around Europe, discovering incredible places we never imagined we’d visit.

We’ve shared so many amazing memories over the years, from city breaks and cruises to mountain roads, campervan adventures and everything in between. The best part is knowing that there are still so many more adventures waiting for us.

We already have plenty of exciting plans ahead, including some incredible cruises, and I can’t wait to see where the next chapter takes us.

Here’s to 21 years of marriage, 22 years of adventures, and a lifetime of making memories together 💕
